If people are idiots are you allowed to say so?

It seems you can say lots of things about people that are ok, I was just wondering if idiot was one of them?

I have been taught by small children that calling anyone stupid, or an idiot is not nice and you shouldn't do it.

Donna, it seems to me that it is OK to call a person's view idiotic, but not to call the person an idiot.

One addresses the subject, one addresses the person.

An aside, one view may appear to be idiotic to some....but that doesn't make the person expressing that view  an idiot.

not sure about that crystal, views can to some be considered quite personal and can be offended if you say that view is silly/whatever.

lol sorry, i meant that was a question you could be asking if you were in doubt.  i wouldn't ask you because i do not believe the golden rule is subjective.   i have always viewed  it from a sociological  perspective ie consideration of others' feelings. (hope that makes sense)
