Re: Scam or real?

Personally, I wouldn't go near it. If things stop working then it is time to update anything that needs it. Scammers make emails look genuine.

i use firefox and as far as i know it updates itself, i dont have to do anything.

thats what made me think it was a scam.

Re: Scam or real?

I have'nt gotten it, but if I did, personally I would call Paypal before I did anything. My browser is the latest version and there are too many very real looking things from scammers getting around to just click

Re: Scam or real?

I also received the email. Checked Paypal security and forwarded it to - phishing@paypal.com.au

They responded saying to delete the email from my inbox and they are now investigating it.

Cheers

Re: Scam or real?

ok, so ive just opened firefox and had it switch to the firefox website warning me that firefox is about to stop supporting windows vista (my operating system)

so i have a choice, upgade to windows 10 or buy a new computer with windows 10 installed.

i guess i knew this day was comming but had hoped firefox would be 'that company' who didnt stop supporting older operating systems.

so, what to do, spend whatever it costs to switch to windows 10 on this computer which is pretty old or slurge on a brand new computer?

has to be a desk top, love my big screen and big sexy box of stuff under the desk lol.

Re: Scam or real?

David, the only thing that really irks me about Microsoft 10 is having to pay a yearly subscription for Microsoft Word.

Or not, which means I can't use Microsoft Word, but I've got the files and I can look at them.

I would have thought it would be "part of the package", but apparently not...

I think I've mentioned previously that my laptop is around 5 years old and I have and love Windows 10. But I am unable to receive most updates because the driver which supports the computer (Asus) does not support windows 10 updates any more. Asus informed me that their driver will no longer be updated to be compatible and this is an issue with other brands too. They admitted that I could buy a brand new Asus computer which may also become incompatible with Windows 10 after a year or two!

My strong recommendation is to research the issue as much as you can so you don't choose a pricey solution that may turn out to be another problem a little while down the track. Smiley Happy
