....picked up by my new Dr. On supplements now, got to have a bone density test next time I see him.
I have been so careful to eat right, plenty of vit B rich foods and A and C and E etc. I regularly eat fresh fish and canned fish like sardines and eat egg yolks.BUT I think my problem was that I have been sun 'shy' for many years as have pale skin and tried to avoid sunburn/skin cancer etc.
Darker pigmented people and elderly need to stay in sun longer than fair skinned people to get the vit D.
According to Dr G I should be getting 6 mins in the sun ev day in summer and 28 minutes or so, ev day in winter.
Chemist girls told me that they are seeing a lot of women and young teen girls with same .....getting Vit D supplements. Was told by pathology girl that Vit D oil is better absorbed by our bodies than in capsule form but have caps as prescribed
Is this something recent that is being discovered in 'plague' proportions? Anyone know?
Apparently signs and symptoms are similar to depression and that thing called SAD.
Well I was certainly experiencing a lot of muscular pain and inner bone pains for a few years.
Thank goodness my new Dr has picked this up......could have been on my way to getting ruddy ricketts!
seriously!

As Children we were always out side playing not stuck in front of tv or a computer.
We went to school with fruit and a veg and lettuce sandwich, if we were lucky some of mums home made biscuits.
Straight after school we had to change our cloths do our home work then we were free till dinner time.

Will let you know here in this thread, if a Vit D deficiency has been picked up. I guess then people might blame our diet. I assure you all though that we have a friend who regularly goes fishing and we often eat fresh fish. Kids drink/consume fresh milk, eat cheese regluarly and whole yoghurt..............sunscreen might be the prob as daughter has fair skin and does not go out without applying it.
We will see what is result and advice.
I didn't rule out diet. I'm just curious to know if it has increased a lot or if it was not tested and reported on in the past. I think my grandmother had severe ill issues related to a lack of Vit D and calcium.

am also sceptical of the vitamin tablet industry, a lot of the big names don't have enough of whatever it is they are flogging to have any effect .
They were a life saver for me.
Picking up a coffee cup made it feel like my hands were being pulled off. Rolling up a window in my work truck felt like a knife was being jabbed into the crease at the elbow. My heel felt like it had a nail in it. I would get severe headaches every spring and fall when the sun shifted (<<<that was the big hint).
2 months in spring and 2 in the fall....it was if someone would come in my house and hit me in the head with a hammer, literally felt exactly like that and I knew it was coming and couldn't do a thing to stop it. ODed on tylenol (30 to 40 a day) Every night between 8pm and 10pm and it would last about 4 hours.
One time it lasted a full 2 months non stop and they finally gave me morphine for that. I maintained a job through it all....it was rough!Other stuff too.
I took 30,000 mg pills of prescription vitamin D for a month, then 1,000 everyday for 2 months. I continue to take 1,000 mg pill 3 or 4 times a week. It's been over 2 years and I'm 100%. Every problem vanished.

Off topic, sorry, but this description of school lunches got me wondering. We went to school with sandwich wrapped in greaseproof paper, a banana or apple and maybe cake all packed into a brown paper bag. Yesterday I was looking at a catalogue advertising back to school things. There were special containers for just about everything. Muffin shaped containers, containers for long rolls, yoghurt containers etc etc. A lot of schools don't allow kids to bring lunch wrapped in paper or wrap anymore. Instead families are spending money on multiple unnecessary plastic containers. What is wrong with supervising kids eating at school, and teaching them to put paper wraps in bins?

Hello Katy. I wondered about the plastic too. Every bit of food comes in plastic and I haven't figured out how to avoid it. That could be it.

Hi Jimmy, hard to avoid plastic these days. ๐

I will go along with my Cat, she refused to drink water out of a plastic bowl, and will drink your water out of your glass if you have one.
I have now given her a glass bowl for her water and she is happy.
