I am a bit concerned about Mr. Elephant - he watches 'Housos' and thinks it's funny.
I am more concerned about my SIL - she watches it and thinks it's a documentary.

On a lighter note; isn't it amazing what a bit of makeup does!

One of the biggest sadnesses I have about our current system is that so much time is taken up with malingerers who just need the boxes ticked so they can move onto a better centrelink allowance and people with genuine problems stay away.
Some people make welfare recipients look so dumb. I caught a glimpse of one of the current affairs show a few weeks ago.
Father and son whinging about the low payments. No jobs in 20+ years, saying can't get a job because no qualifications.
Well Duh, as if they didn't have time to train up for something in 20+ years.
They came across like the biggest drop kicks in town.

What turned me off was that it is such an amateurish production. The closest UK show I could compare it to is Shameless, which was very funny and very well written. In Housos the story lines seem to be nothing more than every dole bludger cliche you could possibly cram into the space of half an hour and the 'acting' (and I hesitate to call it that even in in inverted commas) consists of shouting very loudly and using the f word as often as possible.

It amazes me that people watch it.........

But but She Ele....that is so true to life in some areas.
Not far from where I live that is exactly how it is....maybe a smidgen exaggerated, but not by much

Actually the swearing was what did amuse me (admittedly in 3 minute you tube clips) I couldn't believe how closely they had mimicked some of the people I have contact with. Next time I'm told 'eff you, you effing b..ch, I can effing smoke/leave/make a phone call/etc if I effing want to and you can't stop me, c..t and Ill effing report you" I will be reminded of Housos as I hand them the yellow report form.

From the bits I've seen the police are sent up as much as the housos.
Warning: Contains continuous very bad language!

It's pretty dreadful really and I can't help liking Franky.

Yes it's a sad, satirical reflection on a large section of our society. Nobody is spared, blondes, alcoholics, gays, asians, blacks, white trash, migrants, wogs, disabled. all are made fun of.
I can't watch it, it's just too rude and silly, but must admit it I've guffawed at it a few times when I've looked in on OH watching it.
