NO, not totally banned.
But from things such as driving, operating heavy machinery and security reasons.
I think we as a Nation of developed, intellectual and sensible people should and can find a reasonable solution.
At the same time I don't want to see wearers of said items complain about our sensible solutions.
Living here is not filled with expectations, but rather, wonderful priviledges.

I've never seen anyone is Australia wearing a full burqa with mesh hiding the eyes and only seen one woman who wears the black with eye slits. The most common garment I've seen muslim women wearing is the hijab, in which the face is clearly visible.
My local public school , in the last 3 years, has become an Intensive English Learning School. That means it has special classes for students who dont speak English.
When it started it had 3 Non English classes. Now it has 8.They do a year in the Intensive english class and are then moved into a main stream class.
It also means that the area around the school now has a lot of Non English Speaking families moving into it.
There are many Muslim families so i daily see woman wearing the Burqa, the hijab or the Niqab. Just this morning, while dropping my son to kindy, i saw 2 woman in Burqas and 4 in the Niqab
To me, they are intimidating.

There is a huge difference. The burqua covers the head and face. What are you trying to say here? that the nun's habit is the same as a burqua? is that your opinion?

personally I don't l;ike the burqa or the nijab and would hate to have to wear them myself, the hijab I see around quite a bit. I don't know that in a democracy we can dictate to people how they dress though can we?

That's up to them, so long as they leave our Easter, Xmas etc celebrations alone .... I still think they look ridiculous in this day and age

The burqa is a repressive and controlling garment. It is a cultural thing, NOT a religious thing. It is confronting to many people that's a fact.
