are they allowed to wear civilian clothing in public?
There are nuns (still) that belong to certain orders (e.g. Carmelite Sisters), which wear their habits all the time.

Same here, with both primary and high school. I ended up feeling more comfortable in a middle eastern, meditteranean or germanic household than I did in an anglo-saxon one.
interesting. i dont remember ever focusing
on the ethnicity. i either felt comfortable in a
household or i didnt. never thought it had anything
to do with where they came from/were born here
or whatever.

I have some friends who are Muslims and they don't follow that kinda thing all .
There are some very liberal Muslims. I have a friend from Bosnia, not even her Grandmother wears any sort of head covering, they drink alcohol, the young ones are allowed to live with their boyfriends (before marriage). They are still practising Muslims.
If my friend started to wear a Burqa for some reason, would that make any difference to me? No.
I was bought up in a totally Anglo-Saxon populated area. That didn't make me intolerant of other nationalities & cultures though.

that's the whole point. Nobody has to like them or see the need for them, just acknowledge that those who choose to wear them have the right to do so.

As an aside, doctors have told me the difficulty that they have trying to diagnose ailments by examining abdomens through clothing, the husbands being present of course. (this was not in Australia). I doubt that PVs would ever happen unless the Dr was female.

You keep saying that but it is inaccurate.
The term ‘Muslim culture’ covers many diverse religious groups.
Asian Muslim culture, Middle Eastern, African, European and American Muslims.
They each have their own variations on customs and traditions and their lives are lived within Islam teachings.
Some customs and traditions may be more motivated by culture than by religion.
Some aspects of their religion or culture are accepted by all Muslims

My sister has a GP who is Muslim and wears a head covering. Her patients are mixed but she has a lot of other Muslim ladies as patients. I expect it is fairly common here.

This debate is rather bizarre given participants are all posting under their ‘personal’ burqas with their faces, gender and real identities hidden

i GUESS IT CAN BE SEEN LIKE THAT.
