There is no real need for a ban on the burqa becasue hardly anyone in Australia wears one.
are you saying if there were more people
wearing the burka/niqab in australia then
there would be a need?
No, I said because hardly anyone in Australia wears one it is being used as a weapon to attack and demonise muslim people to cause division in our society between people who have not had any issues with each other previously.

Agree. This sort of public airing of a divisive issue, along with a compliant media and a complicit Government (by their inaction/lack of leadership), leads to this sort of thing:
where good ole' Aussies think it is fair and reasonable to harrass and intimidate law-abiding fellow Aussies. This will be the tip of the iceberg. Well done abbott and your cronies.

Shame on all of you who stood up for Gillard for no good reason and yet you are all on here defending this disgusting attire that dehumanizes women. It has no place in Australia and should be banned.

Bigotry and racism has no place in our modern and multicultural society. It is used as a tool for oppressing others and standing up for bigotry and racism is appalling and enabling.
Shame on all of you who stand up for bigotry and racism for no good reason and here you all are trying to ban something that a couple of hundred women choose to wear, since when has religious and cultural intolerance been cheered on as if it is our new national sport. Bigotry, racism and religious intolerance have no place in Australia and should be banned.
Do you have to copy my posts to construct a post of your own, to put your own twisted spin on it?? flattering I suppose if it helps you wean off the interminable c&p you are so fond of and the offensive graphics, but shows a lack of intellect if you keep doing it.
Calling the racists and bigots card is hostile and interpersonal also.

Only "hostile and interpersonal" if you consider yourself a racist or bigot, this kind of bigotry and racism is all over the msm and social media, I will construct my posts however I choose - thanks.

That sounds a lot like another poster here. The quote reply is a feature of this forum and any poster is free to use it to quote other posters, without the need to seek anyone else's permission first.
Is George Brandis, Malcolm Turnbull, Julie Bishop & Peta Credlin lefties? They must be according to assertions made in some posts.
Julia2010 - if there aren't many burqa/niqab wearers (approx 200?) in the whole of Australia what would the point be of banning them from wearing it? The whole security issue, identification issue (which some states already have new laws for) doesn't seem to be that big a problem for such a low number of niqab wearers. As martini posted... why would a man hide under a burqa to commit a crime, they would stand out like a beacon?

That's the thing, it is not your post, you copied mine and put you own spin on it.
I suppose copying is the sincerest form of flattery if that's all you can manage.

I don't think boris did that. This thread which is a controversial topic has got to 952 posts without any major disruptions, lets keep it that way.

UFO the following article posted a page or so back, was a C&P from the Pickering Post (opinion piece/blog)... you commented on it being well written, it wasn't the posters own words.
IF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES BAN THE BURQA WHY SHOULDN'T WE?
Ask Tony Abbott, and while you are at it - ask why the majority of Western countries in the world are taking action on Climate Change, so why shouldn't we?
Simply stating (repeatedly) what other countries do on certain issues and why Australia should do the same is just naive and lacking in sense.
