How many posters have seen a woman dressed in a burqa on the beach in Australia? I haven't. I have seen them in a blue garment (face not covered) in the water.

Mr Abbott on a street

God you're cute, Am. That's not  a street. It's  a service road to a beach...Mr Abbott had competed in the Palm Beach to Whale Beach Big Swim, and was walking back to the start...

...and this is at Queenscliff Beach Manly during the election. Where a TV show surprised him after a morning surf at Queencliff beach. The interviewer didn't seem overly "confronted". Woman LOL

Nice try there, Am, but looking increasingly desperate.

dead or not ???

I did say I knew what you meant........................... but since he is dead and best forgotten, why use him as your example? People like him don't deserve to be remembered or have notoriety.

In any case, your name calling is inappropriate and interpersonal, please desist.

If we don't remember people like him and what they were capable of, we will become complacent and let our guards down. We will forget the atrocities that a human being is capable of and we will forget to protect our children.

We have to remember so that it doesn't happen again.

Plus

I didn't know he was dead and,

He was the only pedophile whose name came to mind. Even now, I cannot think of anotherthat most who use eBay are likely to be familiar with.

It gives one a comeback when one has nothing else.

The photo of the Muslim family in the water - the adults aren't 'swimming' they are standing in the water. Big difference when fully clothed.

I haven't read any reports in the news of any Muslim women drowning in the ocean, lake or river while wearing traditional Muslim attire.

What is an ORTHODOX Muslim?

It looks photoshopped anyway. They look like they're walking on water not in water. There is no rippling around the ankles or wetness of the fabric.

I think you're questioning the wrong picture.

You mean this on re  photoshopping re rippling around the ankles and  abric wetness ?:

The one Am was commenting on and which you replied to is this one:

I'm fairly sure Am knows which one I was talking about. It's obvious from my comments about water around the ankles.

I think I know which one your'e talking about too. You mean the one with the 4 burka ladies paddling in the water  is shopped?

Could be.

But Am was actually referring to the 2nd pic when commenting on the muslim family standing in the water, IMO.

Re: Should the Burqa be banned in Australia

It is hard enough during periods such as Holloween where people are dressed in costumes that hide their identity or at Christmas with all the extra Santas roaming around the place, but to have to be on such high alert every day of the year would be exhausting.

How many burqa clad people have you ever seen "roaming around the place"? By your own admission, none.

So to what extent is their presence ever likely to exhaust you? None.

Add to that, it has to be demeaning for those dressed in their Burqas to know that others are always suspicious of who they are, or what their intentions are.

And since no-one is forcing you to 'demean' yourself, what business is that of yours? None.

I understand it is cultural custom, but what I can't get my head around is that most people spend their whole lives trying to blend in, not draw attention to themselves, so why would someone come to a brand new country and purposely do things to draw attention to themselves?

Why on earth should it be nececessary for you to get your head around it?

And there is a world of difference between doing things TO draw attention to themselves and doing things THAT draw attention to themselves."

Re: Should the Burqa be banned in Australia

If a goth dressed in black walked down the main st of my town they would stand out equally to a women wearing a niqab.

In a big CITY neither would stand out, people are used to different types of dress,. People acting like idiots draw attention to themselves.

Mr Abbott is not on the beach, in those photos I posted . He could have declined a TV interview in his speedos but chose not to.

Funny looking beach

Re: Should the Burqa be banned in Australia

" I think it was DDB that said there are some women wearing burqas at the kinder her kids go to. "

Was the womenn wearing a burqa (mesh covering over eyes) or a niqab ( eyes only visible)? If it was the niqab the staff could recognise her by her eyes.
