Should the niqab (full veil) be worn in Schools?

I believe that if a School has specific uniform rules, then all students must wear the same uniform regardless of where they came from.

I think you'll find that in Australia most of the 'pearl clutching' brigade are firmly in the conservative camp - the lefties can't afford them.

I do, reluctantly, and for the reasons put forward by Jocashro, agree that the niqab is not appropriate in schools.

I agree that full face covering should not be worn in schools. If it it a serious matter of religion then they are welcome to attend a Muslim school aren't they?

Just the thought of a female teacher standing in front of a class, wearing the niqab is too ridicules, but if the teenage muslim girls are alloed to wear them, then so would a female, muslim teacher have the same right.

actually, the people escaping war in middle east are trying to go anywhere they can.  I know people who work in the airport who told me that number of asylum seekers arrive at the airport and immediately apply for asylum.  I am sure the same happens in NZ, but somehow one or 2 people at the airport does not get the publicity as 20 in a boat
