I just watched Materchef US Season 5 Episode 1
(Thought I better start a new thread and not hijack the Australian one)
Plus we can add Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares to this one too.

Hold the mayo.
Lean beef, pickles, grilled onion, avocado, lettuce, cheese(not swiss), bacon, sauce of some sort(dijon, bbq, or in N out special sauce), toasted bun.
Or
Sharp chedder, cilantro stuffed meat. Yummy.

Make that a double hail no to beets on a burger.
Sauted mushrooms, red onion, cheese (swiss, cheddar, provolone....it's all good), bacon, avocado(a must have for any great burger).............but please NO beets for me!
the great aussie burger is not a burger without beetroot
c'mon, ya musta tried it?
a lunch bar down the road makes my favourite with the lot (no cheese), slightly toasted bun, mmm
Nope, never have. It never even crossed my mind to put a beet on a burger.
Your people must have been hard up for veggies at the time someone suggested that.
Maybe during a famine or something, way back in the dark ages?

Are you putting the pickled beets on your burgers, or fresh beet root?

lol, polly, now you see why i begged you not to kill me,with that recipe, lol! NO MW??? geez,i suppose you'll tell me you eat creamed corn next! 😉
tcm,i like that too, which is odd,as i'm not a tea person at all. my neighbor puts key limes in while she steeps it,then she sugars the lime slices and puts them on the edge of her gorgeous glasses,it's delightful!
her tea glasses are about a foot tall, and only about 3 inches in diameter,i'm almost afraid to touch them, they're so delicate!

Since Jamaica is made from flowers, and not leaves, it has a different taste from traditional teas. Sometimes people add way too much sugar to it. I like it sort of tart.

Joz, I know this is going to sound strange, but I think pickled beets smell a little bit like dirt, that the rain has just fallen on. Fresh beets are yummy. My sister grows them in her garden. They don't smell like dirt to me... which is funny, because they come straight out from the dirt, and into the pan.
