I just watched Materchef US Season 5 Episode 1
(Thought I better start a new thread and not hijack the Australian one)
Plus we can add Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares to this one too.

Hi barri,
I was surprised the fillets won also, but that's only because Ramsey and his wife said they were undercooked so I thought the guests might think so too. Personally, I'd rather have my steak a little on the rare side than overcooked. A well done piece of beef (no matter what it is) takes all the flavor out of it. Imo. I guess the diners thought so too.
i think the biggest problem was the the risotto,it wasn't appealing, and tana said she couldn't taste the lobster in it.
Yeah....if you're promoting a dish with lobster as the main ingredient, it would be very disappointing not to even taste it.
and may i be the FIRST to say,WAY TO GO,CUTTER!!
I was surprised at Cutter too. I had kind of written him off already, but I guess he has more talent than I gave him credit for. His truffles really did look professional. Unlike Big Willie! What was he thinking putting all those sprinkles on his truffles? They have that waxy taste anyway but with so much coated on that's probably the only thing the judges could taste when they bit in to those. Not to mention that sprinkles just aren't very sophisticated. But his other truffles looked really great and I guess they tasted good too, so overall he pulled it off.
Leslie WAS a shocker. I guess truffles are his achilles heel.
thank your higher powers that you used the right amount of sugar,at least. but they were just buttugly, dude!!
Agreed!!
I really wasn't that upset about Christine going home. I kinda didn't feel one way or another about her. She really wasn't featured much so I didn't get a chance to really make up my mind up about her yet. The bitter chocolate though....yikes. Ramesy's first rule of thumb is to always taste your food! It doesn't look like she really did that. A mistake that sent her home.
