So Much For The Right To Freedom Of Speech

Much has been made of "Freedom of Speech" and "Freedom of Expression in light of the Charlie Hebdo attack. Yet we do not practice what we preach, it seems.

VICTORIA’S Health Minister has asked organisers of a conference featuring anti-vaccination speakers to reconsider their “irresponsible” event to protect children.

The March 1 conference covers topics such as “vaccination risks, benefits and alternatives”.

Oh and... before anyone starts... I am not anti-vaccine, but I do believe the risks are worth considering.

But there are plenty of ppl interested enough to invite her here to speak and pay for the privilege.

Dr. Sherri J. Tenpenny is an osteopathic medical doctor, board certified in three medical specialties.

From 1986 to 1998, she was a full time Emergency Medicine physician and the director of the Emergency Department in Findlay, Ohio.

When my kids were young and the choice had to be made about vaccinations the anti information completely smothered the medical information. The anti message featured regularly in news articles and magazines, the anti message was on TV current affairs, news and radio.  It was harder to find facts than fear mongering propaganda.

I can't find a link, but a doc said yesterday that "parents have every right to be martyrs, but they have absolutely no right to make martyrs of their children".

Because he was deemed to be of bad character

Dr Tenpenny has had  no criminal convictions and is of reputable character, so no reason to deny her a visa, or deny her right to speak or deny ppl the right to hear what she has to say.

That's the claim on her website but there are scientists and doctors who dispute those claims.

Yes, but we have a pretty good idea why that is happening.  Lots of research has been done in that area.  It starts with rise in C-sections, as babies born that way lack some bacteria, which they normally pick up on the way out.  Then there is breast feeding, or lack of it, and over cleaning which leaves the baby without contact with germs as well.  Research shows that kids that are in close contact with animals, especial kids from farms, have lower incidents of allergies.  And there is an exposure to various chemical in our houses, and newer they and the furnishings are, worse it is.  In other words kids' immune system is under lot of pressure.

Parents do not have the right to put their kids in danger, but more importantly they do not have the right to put other people's babies lives in danger.
