So Much For The Right To Freedom Of Speech

Much has been made of "Freedom of Speech" and "Freedom of Expression in light of the Charlie Hebdo attack. Yet we do not practice what we preach, it seems.

VICTORIA’S Health Minister has asked organisers of a conference featuring anti-vaccination speakers to reconsider their “irresponsible” event to protect children.

The March 1 conference covers topics such as “vaccination risks, benefits and alternatives”.

Oh and... before anyone starts... I am not anti-vaccine, but I do believe the risks are worth considering.

Adults who do not have boosters are more of a danger to babies than unvaccinated children.

My unvaccinated and partially unvaccinated children, are equally as healthy as the vaccinated ones and no danger to anyone.

How come the guy from overseas who wanted to speak about how to chat up girls, had his visa cancelled and he wasn't able to do his speaking?

Why didn't ' your law' allow him to speak here?

Because he was deemed to be of bad character**

Dr Tenpenny has had  no criminal convictions and is of reputable character, so no reason to deny her a visa, or deny her right to speak or deny ppl the right to hear what she has to say.

I have to go now happy to continue this discussion when I can get back online later

**No, public objected to the content of his presentation/seminar. He has no criminal convictions.  Why didn't your freedom of speech law allow him to stay?  Same as for Dr Tenpenny. - public object to the content of her presentations. A child not being immunised could lead to his/her death from many serious diseases which we have immunisations for to prevent this.

Julien Blanc's visa was cancelled by Mr Morrison for the following reason:

"This guy wasn't pushing forward political ideas, he was putting a view that was derogatory to women and that's just something that our values abhor in this country," he said.

and:

"Cases like those of neo-Nazi David Irving and “pickup artist” Julien Blanc are different, since they can be excluded on grounds of bad character. But the case for excluding Tenpenny (and, hypothetically, Monckton) rests entirely on their stated views."

Which law says Dr Tenpenny must be allowed to speak in Australia? Considering there is no 'freedom of speech' law here?

There's also no law to say she can't.

What if she has her visa cancelled? Then she won't be here to give a speech. Best option.

That's right. But there is no legal reason to cancel her visa.

Australia does not have explicit freedom of speech in any constitutional or statutory declaration of rights, with the exception of political speech which is protected from criminal prosecution at common law.

Wrong country to be banging on about rights and freedoms. Do some research Australia doesn't have a bill of rights or any constitutional freedom of speech. Australia was founded as a penal colony and isn't that far removed from one today

I believe parts of America were founded the same way, until they had the good sense to break away from England and drew up a constitution of their own.

So you would deny freedom of speech to those that don't agree with you?

She is a criminal and I hope they ban her from spreading her lies here.

Dr Tenpenny has no criminal convictions to my knowledge.

"Freedom of Speech gives people like Tenpenny and Monckton (and their Australian co-thinkers) the right to state their views, but not the right to a platform or a respectful hearing."

What do you mean by "in their place?"  Are you suggesting that SIDS, ADHD and allergies did not exist before the advent of vaccinations?

I'm suggesting no such thing. What I'm saying is that diseases like typhoid, polio, tuberculosis, measles have receded (due to vaccination) afflictions like SIDS, ADHD and allergies, which are not diseases and cannot be vaccinated against, have risen.

I could probably search up some facts about that, but seeing it's not the subject of this thread, I won't. You can start a thread about it if you like. I'd be happy to participate.

Freedom of speech- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T6eJEJZHzo

The Constitution says we all got a right to speak
Say what we want Tip, your argument is weak
Censor records, TV, school books too
And who decides what's right to hear? You?

I want the right to talk, I want the right to speak, I want the right to walk
Where I wanna, yell and I'm gonna Tell and rebel every time I'm on a
Microphone on the stage cold illin' The knowledge I drop will be heard by millions
We ain't the problems, we ain't the villains, It's the suckers deprivin' the truth from our children
You can't hide the fact, Jack, There's violence in the streets every day, any fool can recognise that

Cos once you take away my right to speak
Everybody in the world's up death creek

Pay close attention to the 1st 2ed and 4th, in the quiet storm

it's the most violated rights by tyrants in uniform

you gots the right to be yo self

to protect yourself and your own

in the streets or on stage with a microphone

The most violated right by far

is the freedom to be free from searches of your home or car

of yo self, unless one can show no doubt during the frame of time

that your suspected of involvment reasonable suspetion in a crime

Yo know they shouldn't even stop you even for a short pause

if they have no warrent or probable cause

If yo gonna tell me "I gots nothing to hide" your lost

A right not exersized is a right youv'e lost...

I'm sorry but it's just plain wrong to spread lies about such an important subject.

She has no legal right to do so and she should not be allowed to do it. Morally and ethically she should be banned from doing so.

This is a public health issue not a freedom of speech issue.

She has been outed for her lies and yet people still want to excuse her and allow her oxygen.

I am the first to stand  for freedom of speech but freedom to spread disease? freedom to influence young mothers who are very vulnerable and freedom to just downright lie, sorry no.

The point is you have the right to say so.

I make no comment on Dr. Tenpenny's theories.
