Someone tried to break into my house! :(

Through the roof! 😞

Yesterday while I was at work, the neighbour across the road came over to tell my grandmother (at my house babysitting 13 month old) that there are roof tiles lifted and a big hole that will let in a lot of the rain forecast for the afternoon!?!?

She had a look and it was pretty easy to see. At the front of the house.
Luckily my BIL is a builder and once I'd had the phone calls at work, my sis phoned her hubby to pop over and check it out.

He said that tiles had been pulled off enough to let a person slip through! He replaced the tiles and sealed some cracked ones next to the removed ones.

About 20 mins later we had a quick but heavy downpour of rain so happy that he fixed it.....

But now I'm worried! Why would someone want to come in through the roof? It's pretty open at the front of the house, surely a would-be thief would go around the back where it's less open and break in through a window or back glass door?

I had trouble sleeping last night, and feel very uneasy today 😕

I'm home now til Mon, need to speak to neighbours and go to local Police station to make a report.

Tell the police...

you might not be the only one and it is really important that the police know this is happening in your area. It helps them when they do patrols.

I hope your ex isn't trapped inside your roof cavity

How creepy for you. I hope you have an uneventful weekend.

That is creepy Kylie, I've heard of thieves breaking in that way before. You've got to alert your neighbors and find out if anyone noticed anything and the police also need to know. You were lucky someone noticed the hole, and very lucky you could get it patched up so quickly

I would tell the Police as Cats Back said.

Kylie , If it was visible from across the road ..was it at the front of the house ? I wonder why someone would do that where it's visible ...where they could be seen ?

My sisters friend went through this with her OH when they split up, he was living in the roof during the day......to try and catch her out with another man... he has some mental issues though.

Hope all is ok.

He wouldn't still be in the roof would he? Whoever it was who removed the tiles I mean? You don't have any places where someone might hide??

That would scare the heck out of me. Thank heavens for your neighbour!

I hope all is okay.

Kylie, be careful.  This is what happened to my cousin's daughter.  An ex hid in the roof and you might remember what happened when she went out with someone else 6 months after breaking with him - a real case of fatal attraction.  Is J mentally stable?

my family immediately thought it was the ex!

i just can't believe he'd do that!? I had a talk with him last night to gage his body language etc and unless he is an amazing actor I don't think it was him.

i hope a person isn't in my roof cavity, I've been paranoid with every little noise!

will def chat to neighbours and report to police, I have photos before BIL repaired.

it was soo odd being at the front if the house, can even be seen from the main road very risky.
