I am totally petrified of spiders, makes no difference if they are daddy long legs, redbacks or tiny ones.
Right now I am in the sewing room, with a towel at the door and 2 dogs and a 4 yo in here. No food, no water.
I had to get a box of paperwork from the garage and bring it inside to find something for my FIL's house sale.
So, I am looking.......... and from between the folds of papers, out comes a massive spider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It isn't a hunstman it is bigger and huge!! So, lots of screaming, grab the surface spray and almost empty it, grab the vac and up it goes.................. then another one runs across the floor! The rest of the spray is now gone and spider 2 is up the vac with a plastic bag tied over the end.
As I went to replace the papers, another one is in the box!!!!!!!!!!!! so, opened the door, turfed it out on the patio, whacked on a lid and put a can of fuel on top.............
Now waiting for someone to come
The spider is massive, has a huge bulb type back end and dark brown.

@twinkles**stars wrote:giggling here.......easiest way to remove a spider is place a large glass over it then slide a piece of paper under the glass....lift the paper with glass on top and let the spider go outside.
what planet are you on? I don't have a glass big enough and there is no paper strong enough to handle these ones...................
and those pics are just mean
I cannot help it, I try, been trying for about 50 yrs to get over my fear but spiders just make me lose all sense of reality. Had there been anyone else in the house, the spiders would have been despatched alive. The ones in the box still, will be but not at my house!

I like spiders myself and always try to dispatch them alive as I'm not afraid of them, but lots of people have a phobia of them and I sympathise, as I have phobias of other things.

Those photos are in bad taste in this thread. Something 15 yo's would do.
Yes exactly but I can see why it entertains some. It is a phobia for me, totally irrational, I admit and no easy answer. My grandson has been re enacting the event for family................. "and nana screamed and ran like this and I just said take deep breaths nana"
