**Spoiler Alert**

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/the-project-forced-to-apologise-over-santa-claus-comments-by...

"CHANNEL Ten show The Project has been forced to apologise after a guest inadvertently outed Santa Claus as a fake, prompting hundreds of parents to complain.

There were no doubt countless awkward conversations in living rooms across the country when comedian Kitty Flanagan made the declaration not once, but twice, that Santa doesn’t exist."

Is it OK to lie to kids?

Whew, that's a relief Helen. Especially since I have been so good this year, sort of, kind of, not really but I did think about being good and it is the thought that counts.

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

I love being around children who delight in fantasy and magic.

"Magical Santa" and "Magical Tooth Fairy" used to frequent our home.

But after a few years, they were transferred to other childrens' lives.

It was a bit soon for me, though.

"Magical Santa" used to let me ride in Rudolph's sleigh so that I could help the elves back at the workshop.

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

No it's not ok to lie to kids.

I am still berated by my kids for leading them to believe about Santa when they were young.....same as I was told as a kid.

They were really disappointed when they found out it was not true.

Funnily enough not as disappointed about the Tooth Fairy.

Still debating about God though LOL

I pointed this faux pas out to the easter bunny, the tooth fairy, and Jesus, who were all visiting at the time.........they were crushed.

A crushed Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy et al????   The "magic" will happen again somewhere.

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

Yes its ok to tell your kids there is a Santa Claus. Its the magic of Christmas.

I watched the Project last night and couldnt believe what Kitty said, and she didnt just say it once, she said it 3 times, including saying that Jesus isnt real either.

Its not up to her to decide when kids find out about Santa

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

Lying to kids?

who holds it against their parents for lying about Santa, the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny? Not me.

My kids don't.

You would also need to ban fiction books, fantasy characters............ nursery rhymes etc.

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

When i told my older two that Santa wasnt real, they wernt angry that i lied. They were worried they'd get less presents now that they knew the truth lol.

Now they enjoy "believing" in Santa all over again so that their 3 yr old brother can have the magic of Christmas as well

Re: **Spoiler Alert**

This is on The Projects fb page

Dear Mums and Dads,

Last night’s comments by Kitty were completely unplanned and we unreservedly apologise for upsetting our family viewers.

Last night was Kitty’s final performance on The Project but neither she nor our show would intentionally offend kids like this just before Christmas.

Tonight we will be crossing to Santa in the North Pole so he can clear up any confusion for our younger viewers.

Best regards,
The Project
