Have you heard or seen AI stuff being used around you, to you, on you?

I’d like to kick things off by mentioning the new Bankwest TV ad. That voice-over is sending AI vibes to me. Has anyone here noticed the same thing?

It has long sections that are tedious (in my opinion), but if I watch it as a whole, concentrating upon the build-up of suspicion and implacable resistance to human reasoning and emotion, it affects me very powerfully. I don’t watch it in the same way as I’d watch Pride and Prejudice, an episode of Vera, some Star Trek, Titus with Anthony Hopkins, etc. Well, I can’t watch it in the same way. That’s how I tried to watch it the first time, and it seemed something of a chore with those long stretches of trivial nothingness (as it seemed at the time).

It took a different approach for me to learn to appreciate it.

Now it resonates even more strongly as I grow increasingly worried by AI’s proliferation and application.

I don't know as I can't recall the movie but I do know I had heard of this book as a classic and I love a bit of science fiction at times so when I got hold of it, I was excited to read it.

I was disappointed, very disappointed. I can't even recall the story, just the disappointment.

No, no magical experiences here.

I did happen to see an ad for ebay on TV the other day, which is a magical experience in itself, I suppose, as I watch very little TV.

But I noticed they were mentioning ebay-most popular site to find collectables.

I thought-at last! They are pushing one of their main advantages. For the last few years ads have all been about how ebay sells new items at bargain prices. So.. just another retail store online.

I don't know about ebay but I can see AI generated stuff giving us a laugh at times in the future, if marketplace is anything to go on.

Oh how I wish I had taken a screenshot of an ad I saw last night. I can't even recall the exact item now but the spiel started off with something like, "Would you like us to rewrite your script more professionally for you?

Then the script followed.

Finally, there was a sentence that said something like, "How did we do? Is there anything else you think we should add?"

Talk about cringe. How anyone just posted that and didn't edit, I don't know.

The trouble was, I thought, that it was a second hand product but the 'professional' spiel was very generic, talking about the quality of brand and what the item could do, but had none of the personal detail I would want to hear about a used item.

I think it is along the lines that something is so bad that someone will come out and say it's brilliant because they could not understand it. Then all the others that thought is was terrible will come out and praise how brilliant it is in case they must have missed something.

In the middle of writing this my phone rings and who would have guessed what it was. Very creepy and now wondering if I'm being monitored by AI. They just said their message and then nothing. I didn't know what to say so kept quiet. Doubt I was going to win a silent conversation like that against it so hung up after 10 seconds.
