Looks like I wont be walking the dog along the creek this morning so I think I,ll have a swing instead LOL. The creek in front of our house is normally around 10 metres wide. Today its over 100 metres in places and flooding low lying houses and roads. Luckily our house sits on a ridge overlooking the river gully, well out of harms way.

you'll be ok

as long as you have a snorkle

that looks so similar to where i lived before moving to the seaside, had a creek that flooded every few years. usually it was just a very pleasant creek, lots of frogs and yabbies.

Its a nice quiet little spot. Still within walking distance of the town centre and close enough to the sea to hear the waves rumbling at night.

Last night it was the SES pumps rumbling at night as they tried to keep the water from houses a few hundred metres down the road. The concerning thing is the creek is still very high and another strong storm front is expected later tonight. We will be OK but everyone in the street knows each other. It could get a bit damp and cold for some of the neighbours before the night is through.

we lived in a long valley with the creek meandering down the middle in a wide 'flood' plane with the odd 'huge' logs along the edges left there by some massive floods who knows how long ago.

mum and dad built our hous part way up the side of a hill overlooking the creek, so never ever danger of flood damage. dad knew his stuff when he noticed those huge logs.

quite a few homes further up the valley were built right next to the creek, looked lovely until the first big flood.
