so, who's watching this show tonight at 8:30 on SBS?
if it's not cancelled that is. The people involved have tried to get it wiped because it represents them in an unfavourable light.

If anyone is out that way, go and have a look at 19 Casuarina Circuit, Bidwill - a tiny 2 story 'townhouse'. That's where we lived.
and if I wasn't prepared to do something for us, we would still be there along with my 3 kids and 4 grandkids.
{edit: I was at that stage unemployable - I couldn't hold down a job because I suffered crippling migranes on a regular basis.

Who is she anyway? Does she live in Mt Druit? Is she part of the show - ie more details?
Tatoos. I notice a few of them in the prelude. Now there's a worthwhile investment. How much welfare has gone to paying for tatoos when their children don't have enough food.
I didn't see anyone starving or suffering malnutrition, many of them looked over fed with their priorities wrong.
I didn't say they were starving - I said "How much welfare has gone to paying for tatoos when their children don't have enough food."
of course, you can substitute drugs, booze, smokes and lots of other things where I said 'tatoos'.

Anyway ................ those are my opinions based on personal experience of the place and the people .... and I believe I am entitled to them.

@bella_again wrote:Hey supa do you think we need to change our definition of employment? Some countries look at what people do paid or unpaid as work and look after them accordingly. I think some of these people need purpose and the empowerment will come as they start to take control of their lives. They just need the tools to do it.
To an extent, I agree with you.
One thing that struck me when I watched was hearing a couple of times a comment to the effect of 'keeping him/them out of jail' was seen to be an accomplishment.
I might have missed it, but dont recall mention of ambition- except for becoming a 'social worker' Dont get me wrong, but wouldnt staying in school, or finishing your education be the first step? Just because a person has experience being helped by a social worker, doesnt mean they have the necessary ability to become one...its great to dream, but we are talking about reality here.
I dont mean to sound harsh, but taking control of their lives sounds good in theory, but they need to understand that not everyone gets opportunities, not everyone will get a job, not everyone will succeed.
Hard work, being willing to make an effort over and over( even if youre on minimal wage, or even if you hate your boss, or even if you hate your job) you make the best of the situation, have a plan and maybe after years working you begin to get ahead..thats something to be proud of, and I rate people who live like this.

So what should they do then give up? What's the point of living if you can't dream if you can't hope for something better? Hang on I'm probably reading that wrong, to a point you are right not every one will have the same opportunity that is true. But that doesn't mean we can't give them purpose, something to be involved in, something to be a part of. Knowing not everyone will have a job or the same opportunities means we have to get more productive in another way that's why I say lets look at employment differently.
People should be encouraged to contribute to their community where able, to be a part of something bigger, that is what gives them purpose. It can be something as simple as starting a community garden, where people can pick vege and fruit etc when needed, or participating in local community groups that make a difference. They need ownership of something to have purpose, something they can be a part of.
My two adult children have an intellectual disability, they are involved in their community regardless of the fact they will probably never work, they volunteer and they do what ever they can to make a difference. If they can do that with moderate intellectual disability these people can do far more, they just need the means, the support and a reason to do it.

no, sorry - I'm confused. We didn't have a garage door so it's misleading. S reckons that was the whole house and next door' place s starts at the next garage door. As you can see - a huge mansion.
