I was not expecting that when I checked into the presentation today. Nor were the reporters. It was a really good presentation and I think a really good decision.

What a great move by Ms Gillard. Unpecedented calling an election this far out.

It was done to stop the constant speculation by the media and the opposition as to when the election would be held.

The government are in power to govern and that is exactly what Ms Gillard and the Labor party want to do without distraction.

One can only hope that it enables the LNP to give the public their policies and their costings of their policies with plenty of time to spare so they can be examined. Last election the public only knew of their policies with less than a week before the election.

and they were at least 11 billion out.. with a blunder(?) like that they have to come clean earlier so the electorate can truly examine them.

Just proves how little, actually nil back bone and morals Gillard and Labor have, if she had any honour she would go to an election now and put us all out of misery from her and her party....
