Sydneysiders little bit of help please

Coming to Sydney for four nights in June. Where is a good place to stay?. I have a function to go to at the convention centre, but don't neccessarily need to stay on Darling Harbour. Would like to be close enough to see the tower and things. Is public transport good?

I have looked at a few places in Kent st, world square and Hyde Prk. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It would be hard to find a bad hotel in Sydney.

The Woolbrokers is in the street behind the convention centre and about 4 minutes walk to Pyrmont bridge.

The bottom room next to the office has an ensuite and the place is as cheap as chips to stay.

A lot of school groups use it as it has many multiple bunk rooms upstairs so if peace and wuiet is your thing then... not here... It is just off Harris Street and an exquisite old....oled building

Truly I stay there because I can walk to the Convention centre, Casino, the Pyrmont Bridge hotel or over it and into the city... and two can stay there for a week for about $550.00
and the powerhouse museum is just up Harris street a bit further

Not sure why you laugh.?:|

Anomolies in service aside, unless you pick a a cheap hotel on the outskirts of the city or a hostel the standard of hotels in the city is good.

As it is in most Australian CBDs.

Anyway OP, your choice of the Hyde Park Inn is a good one for your purposes.

Unless they have had a complete change of staff and refurbishment in the last couple of years don't go to the Holiday Inn in Haymarket.

We stayed there a few years ago and the service we got was so bad I wrote and complained, something I very rarely do.  Then, unknown to me, my sister booked us in there a year or so later.  She changed rooms 3 times, before I arrived, until she got one that was cleaned to a suitable standard.
