Ok we have had the "Poor Illegal Refugee" the "Poor Dole Bludger" the "Poor whatever" thread so now what about the "Poor Self Inflicted Addict" thread.
We may as well add them to the taxpayers burden as well. We can cater for their "special needs" out of the bottomless pit of our national debt.

Bright I agree with your friend, I saw a program the other night and the stuff they use to make P/ice is Horrendous, think it was like anti freeze and acid like chemicals, scary to put that into your body

Rose it's so easy to get hold of too, and it just makes users crazy. to a greater extent than other drugs do apparenty.

How much compassion would you feel for the drug crazed addict who is twisting your arm behind your back and holding a knife at your throat?
It's all so easy to sprout "compassion" from afar so that you can kid yourself that you are above the rest.
Would that "compassion" take a powder if a druggie got up close and personal with you.
That just shows that you have no understanding of the issue. If people would be treated, and had access to some medication to satisfy their craving they do not need to rob anybody. Methamphetamine users have a feeling of extreme euphoria and when the effect wears off they become desperate to get more. And that is when they can easily develop paranoid, aggressive, or violent states of mind. Junkies have only one goal; to get the next hit and usually only become aggressive when they cannot get their stuff, or when they fail to reach the euphoric state they think their dealer is swindling them.
Methamphetamine-induced psychosis is an officially recognized psychiatric disorder that can last for a period of days, months or (in relatively rare cases) years, even in the absence of continued meth use. However, the brain changes associated with habitual meth use also appear in people who don’t develop clinical psychosis, and any long-term methamphetamine user can experience bouts of paranoia-fueled aggressive or violent behavior.

I have a friend who works in Emergency as a Doctor in a city hospital, he too says that heroin addicts are easier to deal compared to ice addicts, who are often unpredictable and violent.
He also told me they see a lot of the same ice addicts over and over, being brought in by the police.

In case it slipped your attention span, Poddy, your Op started off.

Maybe you didn't mean to imply that they are all tarred with the same brush, but as I have said before, if you don't say what you mean, people will assume you mean what you say.

The convenient fact remains, Nova, regardless of the symptoms and clinical definitions, addiction is a self inflicted state.
Addicts have placed themselves in that state by choice and I have no compassion for those who have self inflicted stupidity.
The results of addiction are common knowledge known to all and yet ignored.

That's odd Rosie, I feel vibrant, energetic, enthusiastic and have a positive outlook, I have no addictions, no illnesses, no financial problems, no debts, I do as I please when I please, I have many enjoyable activities, I am never bored, I have no allergies, no aches or pains.
So you may be right, I am dead and in heaven 🙂
