Teds loosing his grip ?

Victoria's Liberal Government is facing a new crisis, with controversial Frankston MP Geoff Shaw announcing he has quit the party, erasing Premier Ted Baillieu's one-seat majority.

Mr Shaw has been under fire for misusing his taxpayer-funded car to help run his hardware business.

There are reports he will run as an independent.

His move means Mr Baillieu is now presiding over a minority government.

Does this mean an early election?
Last year ABC election analyst Antony Green looked at whether Geoff Shaw could bring down the curtain on the Baillieu Government. Read his blog piece here.

Mr Baillieu is continuing to come under fire over his handling of the secret tape recordings involving his chief of staff.

Leader of the Government in the Upper House David Davis says it is too early to know whether Mr Shaw...

dont usually see you comment ivy. ๐Ÿ™‚

nobody has commented on my spelling. teds Losing his grip.

lol! LL yes it is a rare that I'll make a comment on a political thread as for the most part they bore me to tears and no offense to those that enjoy them just not my cup of tea.   In this instance though he is someone who I've felt not just let the state down but himself in the role he was given.  I know it would not have been easy if he little support from within his own party but I recall at times Jeff didn't either, have always liked Jeff even though he's a Lib.

Bring back Jeff ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure Ted's one eye'd Labor supporting MIL will be thrilled to bits.

Personally I don't think either party atm has anyone suited to do the job which isn't good.  Dennis Napthine is a lovely man and had the pleasure of a conversation with him many years ago though he will be facing an uphill battle within his party which needs to get it's act together and get on with getting the job done.

Realistically though I think an Election would be a better idea to give one of these two parties an opportunity to maybe get a majority goverment into being as whilst they lead a minority goverment not much will get done.
