I read this today Donna. Interesting, to say the least
We only have our kids to teach them to grow up and be independant for a short while. They eventually have to fly from the nest and spread their wings. I think the present generation are stunted to say the least

Yes, that is what I meant Donna. I left home at 18 as most people did to make their way into the big wide world
My kids also left after school
Today's young adults just don't want to leave home. They probably would have no idea how to make their way outside the parents' confines

I left home at 16 but to leave home now in Sydney it costs an arm and a leg.

When I was 18, you left school and got a full time job.. rents were reasonable. Saving for a house was achievable. Some went from school to Uni.
Now I would say, more go on to Uni, work part-time, rents are expensive.. it sort of makes sense to stay with parents if you can in that situation.
My youngest 22yo, lives at home by choice (she lived out of home for a few months when she was 18, prefers home). She is at Uni and works p/time.
I have no doubt she will have no problem finding her way outside her parents home when the time comes.

I know Judy, and their parents worry themselves sick about their whereabouts when they are in their 20's.
I left home and moved to Sydney when I finished school, lived in Potts Point and didn't even know Kings Cross was around the corner lol
Used to go to a public phone box and ring my parents once a week!
