Re: The Daily Show - John Oliver Investigates Gun Control in Australia

It's not the deaths a lack of a seatbelt creates, it's having to tend to the cretins who don't wear one, once they're little more than a rutabaga, taking up years of effort in changing their diapers, shoving mush into their mindless maws, and cleaning their ulcerated bedsores........all paid for by those whe actually wear seatbelts..........if you go through the windshield in a wreck, and end up toe-tagged, that's fine and dandy.

I wore my seatbelt when i first started driving, before the seatbelt law, after they passed the law, thats when i stopped wearing it. I want to wear it, but for the right reason, safety, not because it's the law,. wearing a seatbelt because its the law is wrong, and what is the point in a saved life of a slave? .................Sometimes dead is better ................Pet Cemetary.........................

Joannie, you sound like someone who really would cut off your nose to spite your face.  Thank you, you have enabled me for the first time ever to make sense of that old saying.

Btw, your story changed, re the law and seatbelts. First you said when you started driving you were angered to find out about the law now you say the law came later.

i was angered to find out about such laws as the open container, the seatbelt later on, i had to find out about it, or i wouldn't know to be angered and many other laws may as well be that serve no ligitmate reason or funtion, including many gun laws, the permit requirement for concel carry, designated areas where open carry is banned, city limits and such. similar laws, i'm not opposed to all laws, some of them actually are of some benifit.

i didn't change my story wit is the truth, you twisted and, or misread it.

No, wearing a helment?, no, not if it's the choice of the rider to do so, or not do so, it's only oppressive when you tell others, they have to wear a helmet. I'n Ohio, there is no helmet law, there is a law that says you have to wear eye protection, same as having to have a windshild in your car, I agree with that law, if your vision is compromised, while driving a motorcycle or a car, it puts others in danger.

In Kentucky, not too far from where i am, they do have a helmet law, and from what i have seen, they do enforce it, mostly it's for reasons of cops generating money for their towns, through fines. Not sure if the cops agree with the laws, but they are not opposed to more money coming in to fund their pay and budget. I seldom ever see a police car thats more than 4 years old, Yet I drive a bearly maintainable 1987 Nove with a bad oil leak, cracked windshield, leaks when it rains, and a kink in the steering. The car struggles on the hills around here. Knowing that cops get the money for their expensive toys by steeling things from me, and forcing me to pay a ransome every so often to get out of jail, don't do alot for my opinion of them. Not when i'm struggling so much just to stay afloat, and they ride around worry free on easy street. It's a big part of why i look forward to my death, in the hopes, things will be better in the afterlife.

So in conclusion, helmets should be a personal choice, in any state, eye protection, or sun glasses, for the rider, should be required for motorcycles. I think it's a shame that i can never ride in Kentucky, t's a beautiful state to ride in. Car, or bike.

Joanie's right.......I wish there were no helmet laws........that would provide a lot of fresh organs for transplantation from those cretins who loved the wind flowing through their hair.

Nope, there is a definite contradiction there.

Then theres the seatbelt law. these kind of laws angered me so much when i started driving and learned of them, that i would often cut the seatbelts out of my car.

I wore my seatbelt when i first started driving, before the seatbelt law, after they passed the law, thats when i stopped wearing it.

Yep, I read someone going off about helmet laws and how the helmet nearly caused his sister to drown.  Of course it had nothing to do with the fact she smashed the bike, was thrown off and was unconcious in a creek.
