Hey everyone...
So, we all know theres an election coming up!
September the 14th is the big day. Like mentioned, plenty of time for us all to plan for that date.
Also means its going to be a looooooong campaign.
For the peace of the board, so everything else doesnt get pushed down by debates on policies and dirt and gossip (and digs at each other personally) etc, can we at all perhaps try to contain as much as we can in a thread much like this?
Theres bound to be plenty of healthy debate (particularly by a few members well known for their strong stance and support for a certain party) and its always easier to follow it etc in one place.
Should be an interesting year ahead! I know I for one am looking forward to it!

What's undemocratic about it? They all get the same opportunity and we don't have to suffer weeks and weeks of mindless, paid propaganda. If they can rally enough volunteers they can door knock every house in Australia as often as they like.

I like it.

If I were President of Australia, there would be NO private or Union funding permitted for election campaigns. Each party would be permitted - out of public funds - ONE 30 minute TV policy broadcast, on a station of theirownchoosing, ONE full page newspaper ad - in a paper of their own choosing, One five minute TV ad per candidate, $2,000 per candidate, for mailouts and as much doorknocking as their little leggies could handle.
Love that idea

LOL Cat, I just can't take Tony Abbott, he is such a dingbat and I think he would embarrass us Australians, I prefer the current Prime Minister but both party's have not offered or are going to offer anything different.

Do you know how much mailouts cost?? You won't be able to print the flyers for that price....

Donkey vote like the rest of us who don't like any of them. And let your kids vote whatever they want.
Just remember if you don't cast a legitimate vote you do not have the right to whinge or criticize any politician.

Vote Green, send the big parties a message that you're not happy, Crystal.

They should have one box simply saying 'Not Happy Jan'.....I'd tick that one because I don't like either of the leaders of the major parties at this point in time.
They're both inarticulate power mongers who will apparently do anything to stay on top. Some of Dullards decisions have (in my humble view) tainted the importance of the role of 'First female PM' with all the treachery towards Rudd. Equally, she appears to be doing the same with Indigenous political achievements by circumventing accepted processes = tokenism.
Meanwhile, Blabbott thinks we're all so dumb we can't see the slimy manipulative undermining he & his party have indulged in at the expense of the nation.
Tell me a time in the past few years that the subject has gotten beyond "he Said, she Said".
I reckon if we all simply refused to vote as a big Nation Wide demonstration of dissatisfaction in the actual caliber of pollies these days, THAT would get their attention....
e.g. What if they held an election...and nobody came?.....:^O

It kind of takes the interest out of your post when you use derogatory names for them...but at least you were equal about it.
