We have a ginormous 'pet' huntsman that has built a web between our front window and a tree on the other side of the path. It's been there for several weeks now and seems to be doing very well for itself.

Won't be a huntsman ele. They actively hunt for their food, and don't make webs. Maybe you have an Orb Spider. They grow very large, an hang around the centre of a large web.

Guess I had better put the coffee on. 🙂

Master 8 woke up with a blood nose. Let's hope CSI doesn't need to be called today. :^O

Thanks Mouse. I did actually think it was an orb spider, but I got shouted down!! Yes, it sits there, big and fat, in the middle of it's web along with a trail of detritus from it's various meals. I really am growing rather fond of it - I think I might have to give it a name and post a pic.

Unless it hatches out a brood of spiderlings - in which case I'll call it Marvina (or probably the late Marvina.) :^O

Re: The Official West Australia Thread!

The Golden/Garden Orb that lives outside my front door area has been there all summer, & it's BODY is now as big a 20cent coin - no kidding. Blardy humungous. It's got it's own pantry too - lots of bugs & stuff wrapped up in web, the same way as in she_ele's photo.
