Afternoon folks.
Love the new name, Croc.
Well, Bagheera had his first trip to the vet's - just a general checkup this time. He didn't think much of the car trip - banged and clawed at the top of the cage trying to get out, then howled a few times, but eventually settled down and was as good as gold coming home. He was also very good - though very nervous - in the surgery and didn't try to bite the nice doctor.
He got a clean bill of health except for a grass seed in one ear, and the vet reckons he's about 2 1/2 years old. He gave him a worm pill, a shot of advantage and his first vaccination.
We have tentatively booked him in for snipping and chipping early next month - he has to have his second vaccination then so we thought they could do that at the same time and save the trauma of an extra trip. The vet will also remove the grass seed while he is under anaesthetic.
I say we have booked tentatively, because apparently the local council do a 'cat sterilisation' month when you can get a discount voucher. The vet's receptionist said it usually happened in August, but we have to find out for sure before fixing a firm date.
We bought Bagheera a little toy for being so good - a furry squirrel (sorry skwerl, if you happen to read this) with a pouch to put catnip in and a supply of catnip to go with it. He thinks he is in cat heaven, and it will be something comforting to put in the cage with him on future vet visits.
