"This is for the Senior members of CS, those born before 1947. Baby Boomers and Generations X & Y are welcome providing you are over 18 🙂
But this is definitely for people who are facing the last long haul. We have survived babyhood, childhood, being teens and twenties... We have learned to read and write, to drive, have probably been married and the women have survived child birth.
The challenges are constant and the near misses of death are also there. If we have become a senior we have learned to survive so much, and along the way we have, of course, gathered a great deal of knowledge about life.
The belief that age diminishes us is not true, it changes us and not all of it is bad. Yes there can be various forms of dementia for some, but that is also a disease that can happen in younger people. Alzheimer's can also occur - it is another form of dementia and generally occurs in people over 65, although that can occur much earlier too and not everyone is going to get it.
Most of us keep our mental alertness up to the moment of death, even if we lose our hearing and our eyesight, but of course this can happen at any age too.
What changes is our physical strength, which diminishes but our mental strength and patience grows, it has to of course, to deal with this aging thing.
Arthritis, heart trouble, strokes - all these things associated with age can happen at any time in your life - arthritis can happen when you are a child but they don't like giving out new hips and knees until you are in your 50s and 60s or later. We can talk about that too.
Cancer can happen any time and that is also something we can discuss here if you like.
The point of this thread is to give the Seniors a chance to talk about how they are coping with age, the challenges it presents and the fears that can come with it... loss of hearing or sight, aging spouses, living alone, retirement villages, even death...
So I will ask that the Juniors treat us in kindly fashion and remember, all this is going to happen to you too - providing you avoid death before you get here 🙂
So, onward and upward. Let's go...."

Oh dear moon 😞 that must have left you feeling very upset for your friend, what an awful thing to happen.
Even if the fellow has mental health issues I think he should be made aware that is not the sort of behaviour that will get him any applause.
Yes I think I would be worried about your friend. Have you told her?
I have just spoken to the friend, It seems that when she is angry with him she will ring some of her friends and have a whinge. So as he is angry with her he took her list of friends phone numbers and call us.

:^O Oh dear 😞 not so mentally challenged he doesn't know how to sort her out.
He's right of course, she is putting him down and not keeping the problem at home between them.
Not that I blame her, she would need to talk to someone when she's upset with him and she had been dealing with him since birth, but I think she had better be a bit more circumspect and make sure he doesn't know she is talking about him.

Well the cold wet spell continues down here for the moment, so I am back reading and doing ancestry.
Hence not much to say really.
Who remembers hot white loaves of bread delivered to your door and, before the parents knew, you had cut off the ends of the loaf, buttered them and added Vegemite...
Ooooh YUM!

Hi All
Its cold wet and windy here today.
It has been raining on and off most of the night and morning. The OH has come home from work as it too wet to work.
It was very windy yesterday with the leaves blowing everywhere. I have just finished ironing the clothes that I washed yesterday and I found some leaves in some of the clothes.

I still have it at least twice a week when I bake bread in our bread maker and I love, love, love the smell of the bread baking and stealing the end bit while it's still hot and eating it 😉
Grandmoon ~ A few posts back you mentioned putting the "dust bin" out - that brought back memories, :-x I never hear it called a dust bin these days.

Morning gerries.
Hi Witches--what about the night cart man!
Can remember one tripping over in my fils
driveway---with a full can.
Was yelling out--fil raced out to him-thinking he was in pain.
Just wanted someone to get his sandwiches
out of his overall pocket-lol...................Richo.

Hi witches, good to see you here 🙂
Ah yes, the dust bins, sounds so much nicer than the garbage bins doesn't it.
We don't have garbage bin men here and I have to take my trailer to the tip every so often to get rid of the rubbish.
No postal delivery either 😞
Talking about the night bins Richo, long long ago in Collaroy where the roads going up from the beach are long and steep a night bin truck had an accident and tipped over.
The poor driver was trapped and drowned... what an horrific way to die :_|
I have a stay fly in the room. We have a sunny bright and somewhat warm day and I think it is confused with summer.. it's in for a shock by tonight :^O
