The Shroud of Turin

I am part way through reading a fiction book featuring The Shroud, and it has sparked my curiosity.

What do you know?

What do you think?

Me? I want to believe that it is real, but I'm not convinced one way or the other just yet, but I am interested in discussing it with anyone else interested in doing so.

For something of such historical significance to truly exist would be amazing.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

I think the thing that puzzled everyone, was: if it's not genuine then how the hell was it created (painting has pretty much been ruled out) and who in the days before photography would have  wanted to create a negative image?

A while ago, however, I watched a programme on TV which suggested it could have been done by  the camera obscura method (pinhole camera) I can't remember now exactly how it worked but the programme showed the method and suggested the 'culprit' was probably Leonardo da Vinci.

One of the arguments against it's being genuine is that if the cloth had been wrapped around the face, the features would have looked much broader  when the cloth was unwrapped and spread out.

Its supposed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.

There have been many scientific theories.  I am not up to date with the latest but I dont think there has been anything conclusive.  There was an interesting 2010 documentary on the History Chanel titled The Real Face of Jesus?   I dont know if there has been anything more recent.  Worth watching IMO

I thought this issue has been settled. It was a fake produced over a thousand years after Jesus. Apparently so many of these cloth were created not just this one.

The image can be reproduced quite easily.

Either you have faith in what I say or you don't. Do you have faith?
