The Urban Dictionary.

Who actually writes the Urban Dictionary? Do entries have to be submitted to  an editorial committee who decide whether or not they are worthy of inclusion or is it a bit like Wikipedia and anyone can put in any word they like and propose a meaning for it?

Re: The Urban Dictionary.

wiki doesn't work like a dictionary though.

in fact, it says it must not.

its more of a huge reference 'book'
where contributors must supply

their source.

it is true that anyone has the ability
to change any content.

i have seen instances where someone

sabotaged an entry, but that is usually

immediately picked up and corrected.

there have been some 'funny' ones:

Tizz

(i)  Is not a 2 or 4 wheeled automobile.    It is driven though - in mysterious circles.  And can be wheeled out at the drop of wine glass.

(ii)Could be classed as an out-fit.  "Come as you are" non-refined apparel.

Re: The Urban Dictionary.

Can it be juxtaposed with a huff?

Cos I went off in one of those once (or twice, or.......never mind)

Re: The Urban Dictionary.

A "huff "is often  a justifiable exiting response to opposing declarations brought about by non- or ill-informed fools combatants of the arena.

The Huff action is often accompanied by the well-known pacificts' vernacular  "Whatever"

(As opposed to Trounce -  could include a slight flick of hair, accompanied by the statement  :  "I don't care if I'm not right.  You're stupid";  they offer attention to the  acoustics of wooden floorboards by a certain motion of the feet at time of exiting.)

Thusly..........      Yep, accoustics are good.

Trounce and flounce are not the same though.

The flouncing works with a huff        I believe

Alphabetically, I mean.

Otherwise, there'd be people all over the place getting into a tizz.  Smiley Happy

Good point, Lloyds, but it would only apply to the order that  entries appeared in the dictionary,  Not the order in which they were submitted. If entries could only ever be submitted in alphabetical order and the first one submitted was zygote, you'd end up with a very short dictionary.Woman LOL

Re: The Urban Dictionary.

In this day and age I kinda dig the urban dictionary.  There are heaps of made up words which need a platform imo.

Like songify: to make stuff into a song that wasn't intended to be a song... lol Check out Schmoyoho on yt to see the inventors of this great word 🙂 Not that they invented songifying "stuff" they just coined a word for the process 😉
