The choice to use a taser isn't a safe one

There have been a lot of deaths, here and around the world.

One man in Qld was tasered 28 times.  Mentally ill, of course.  Died of course.  No action taken.

The alternative is a lot more lethal and permanent.

But you are the type of person who criticise the police for using a firearm to stop someone and

then criticise them for using a taser before having to resort to a firearm.

We could go back to just shooting them !

More BS from you. Don't let the truth get in the way of your and Donna's Agenda !

He was not mentally ill.

He had been takng drugs, amphetamines.

The cause of death was "excited delirium", probably caused by drugs.

He had a heart condition and drug related complications.

How about stating the reason for no action was because the Coroner no basis for disciplining any of the officers.

So, next time you need to call the Police, call a crack head and see how helpful they are to your situation !

I found a worse case.

Police are too quick to draw their Tasers

15 November 2012

In the most extreme cases, a man already in police custody was Tasered 41 times. He was subsequently acquitted of any offence.

clicked on above post - to no-one in particular...

It seems they (police officers) are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Don't draw your gun, don't use your taser, batons are excessive force, so what? What to do ?

Just stand there (defenceless), and yell 'Police, you are under arrest' while the unsub shoots, stabs or beats you with a bat ?

Imagine if your son, daughter, wife, sister....... was in immediate danger from an assailant, would you be happy to see the police Yell at the offender, or would you be screaming DO SOMETHING.

Until you walk a mile in their shoes, how could you possibly know? and how can you possibly feel justified in making a judgement?

Read the link.

In disturbing footage that screened on ABC’s 7:30 this week, a 14-year-old Aboriginal boy was repeatedly Tasered by police, while handcuffed and not resisting. In 2010, a WA Corruption and Crime Commission report found that, in breach of police guidelines, police were using Tasers to get people to comply with their orders. In the most extreme cases, a man already in police custody was Tasered 41 times. He was subsequently acquitted of any offence.

It's peculiar that he called the police to report he had been assaulted and they arrested him.  Makes you wonder if he was a known to them and if he was one with mental health issues.
