I respect your views polks, I really do,
and I sincerely hope you are never put in the postion where you need to make a life or death choice, or need to rely on another to make it for you.
aps - I could not have said it better ! You need to live it, to know it and to heal from it. Opinions are just that, opinions, living it, is another story altogether.

The op and some others on this thread really do hate the police, doesnt matter to them that the police were assulted by this person and the police needed medical attention... (The two police officers were taken to hospital for head injuries) That seems to be OK as its the police that got hurt but hurt the poor bad dude and off the go on their usual police bashing threads and rants.
It doesnt seem to matter to some on here what this person could have done to the YOUNG staff at the McDonalds store either.
It really is a worry the police bashing from the left and the usuals
and the Tshirt someone could market this Tshirt along side of the babies and kids Tshirts with the bullet holes in them....

I am sorry for that, luckily, I was not too late, and I still have my sister.
No need to say more, I did not realise you have obviously been in a situation such as I was and with a sad outcome - sorry

One good outcome does not make it OK to misuse power in other situations. That is not justice.
And one bad outcome does not mean that the police shouldn't use them in most situations or use them correctly.
Your emphasis on "misuse" when most of the time they are used correctly.
But the left are never shy of jumping on the outrage bus at the first opportunity !
@ @ outrage bus.

No, not at all the same situation as you. And I'm sorry that you had that scary situation.
Have have had a loaded gun pointed at me on several occasions by an intoxicated police officer. Had to learn how to deal with that, because I had two babies in the house also.
But I also had a few years friendship (not all that long ago) with a very senior detective, and I know stuff.

Okay
Still, I did not mean to belittle your experience, we all have our crosses to bare, some more than others, but none any more important than another as it is the individual who has to cope and we are all different and all have our own coping mechanisms.
So, as I dismount my high horse, I say to you that the person you were intimidated by is not the norm in the force, the action he took was not acceptable, and most certainly an individual such as yourself should not have been placed in this position.
I amy have read more into this post that is correc, but I hope punishment was forthcoming to this bully.

No, in those days, police were not punished for much that they did, and not very harshly if they were. A stint in the country was a punishment for actions which today would or should result in dismissal or a jail term. Well, he eventually was "retired" with a lucrative pension.

Well, the truth had to come out.
"A man who died in police custody after being Tasered at a McDonald's restaurant in the NSW southern highlands had been on a three-day "ice" binge before his death, his girlfriend says.
Kevin Norris, 38, died at Bowral police station on Sunday night, shortly after he was arrested at the fast-food restaurant in Mittagong.
Police said the roof tiler, from Mittagong, was acting aggressively when officers tried to arrest him at the Bowral Road restaurant.
The officers used a Taser and capsicum spray to subdue Mr Norris, before handcuffing him and taking him to the police station, where he slumped to the ground and died."
Obviously drugs and Tasers don't mix.
