And you know that for sure, do you?  And I am not glossing over anything.  I am not saying the pics are not shocking.   But these kids are victims, and need to be helped not condemned. 

Since the end of WW2 there are approximately 40 wars going on at any given time.  That means millions and millions of children being exposed to barbarities.  There are people who as children in Cambodia were forced to kill, and those who survived did not become killers.  There are people who were little during the Rwanda war.  To name just 2 particularly shocking events that were widely publicised, but there are thousands more that you probably never hard about.  People in Afghanistan have lived with war for the past 50 years; most people there never experienced peace, yet they survive.

We live such sheltered lives ..............

I did not say it is equal, but it is well known that kids who kill have  often history of mistreating animals.  Somebody who get a thrill from killing defenceless animal would no doubt find it much easier to kill human.

I agree these kids should be immediately removed from the their parents' care, but to say that best would be to be killed is just as sick as ISIL.

I didn't say they should be executed or deliberately killed.

The comment was just a comment, reflective of how they might return ot Australia and school one day.

Yes, he's only a child but would you want to deal with the fallout of his holiday in a war zone playing with trophy heads?

I think you are exactly right Nova.  It's always the children that dont deserve whats happening to them in times of war.  Too many children are dying everywhere.  From Libya to Palestine to Syria to Iraq and dozens of places in between.  

In an ideal world..

We should let all the muslims have an Islamic state, those that what to join the caliphate and live under Sharia law, let them do it. Surely there is enough room in the middle east for them to set up their Islamic state and the west can just gtfo of their business and their countries.  The West should stop invading and terrorizing middle eastern places and trying to force democracy into these nations that clearly dont want it, or cant seem to get their heads around it.  It works for us and thats great we want peace in our nation/s and we are governed by a model that we can all (for the most part) understand and adhere to.  Let the Jewish people have their own state so they can live free from persecution and thrive on their patch in the desert. Wind down all these military operations start working out some aid packages for the countries they have pulverised and come the f home and guard our borders, so at least we can feel like our tax dollars are being used for the good of our own nation, not funnelled to the people that want to destroy our way of life.

 I know it's all rhetoric and it's alot more complicated than that but i dont see why one group has the right to 'self determination' and the other doesn't.
