Re: The real Tony Abbott

Trust is a very hard thing to regain once it's lost

I agree, how is abbott going to go about it? He's lied about so many many things and given people false hope which is a terrible thing, those traffic jams with boat people are just going to get worse with all these boat arrivals lol

Re: The real Tony Abbott

The loss of trust and confidence was (in my opinion) largely driven by the campaign run by the conservatives re: Australia's failing economy. People fell for it even though all evidence pointed to the contrary. There are factions in both labor and liberal. Despite popular opinion we don't vote for the PM, we vote for a party.

The mass media also ran a very effective campaign against Rudd, attacking him personally daily. He took on the mine owners with the proposed super profit tax, which by the way many other countries have. He was deposed soon after and then we witnessed some of these parasites gloating around the world about what would happen to any Prime Minister who dared to take on the might of private capital.

Personally I don't care about politicians percieved personality traits (true or false), what I care about is policies.

For your information, the damage Labor has done is that people lost trust and confidence in Politicians.

I should have made myseelf clearer.

Just standing at the polling booth entrance and listening to how many people just voted bcause it is mandatory. Many had no idea whom to vote for.

How do you work that out?

Is it because they dared to elect a woman to the top job?

It was the constant dibble from the attack dogs that led to the loss of confidence. The constant dribble of the shock jocks and Murdoch crew who every single day attacked, usually with sexist attitudes, who refuse to accept the result of the 2010 election that caused any lack of confidence.  We had a media that would not report any policy news but constantly reported BS about anything but policy and reality.
