Thermomix Tips

I have ordered mine today, not going to change my mind as my lovely mummy is buying it for me.

I'm interested in the more healthy side of cooking, fresh vegies and herbs etc without additives of any kind.

For those that have one, which pages and recipes do you follow?

Going to do something a little 'creative' in the TCook this weekend, it's not the TMix but can do the exact same recipes.   Possibly I'll try a Canadian recipe just to be different ...  Smiley Very Happy

Steamed some rice but that caused a kind of Krakatoa event, I suspect Mr. Tas put too much water in ....  Woman LOL ... still nice though.

I have ventured into cooking so many different things, things I would never have considered doing pre thermomix.

Time saving, budget friendly and variable menu. I have now mastered bread and so much easier than ever before, last night I was invited out to dinner, so I whipped up a batch of sticky date puddings with caramel sauce to take, the hostess made cauliflower soup with dumplings, then Thai Basil Chicken with rice, dinner for 6 in less than an hour, after a full day at work.

I wish I had one when I had children at home Woman LOL

This week I am prepping food for a family birthday on Saturday, everything has to be gluten and sugar free, however, the available recipes are endless.

This site is not a thermo site but has easily used recipes for them

I think the thing with these kind of thermocookers is perhaps what it can do thermally that makes one more adventurous than before because of the 'cooker' aspect.  I know that is happening for me and Mr. Tas already.

Food processors can do absolutely everything the TC and the TM type of machines do, other than cook, so it's the cooker side of it that gives the appliance that advantage (if it really is an advantage apart from time).

After a little research, I have seen a machine by a well known company juxtapose the thermal part with an actual 3 part nesting food processor, although of course, they have to be connected separately.  Not sure what I think about that as the cost is slightly more than the TMix but of excellent quality and no plastic other than the processor part, all stainless steel.

They are great machines though, and as the prices come down further as they are doing, I think they will become standard in most kitchens of the future.

My next experiment will be a dessert, of course .....  Woman LOL

I still use it every day, there is not much I cannot cook these days, nothing is too much hassle.

There are other alternatives with great features too. I also wish I had one when my kids were small. I end up feeding the neighbourhood instead

Looks like I'll be using mine every day too Donna, it really is nice to have isn't it.   So much for the dessert trial though, right at this moment, there is a beef goulash churning away for tomorrow .. going to take a long time, but should be delicious.

I'll do the dessert tomorrow instead, maybe a sorbet or something more interesting.  Once it's been here for a whole week, we'll then start modifying and doing our own recipes.

Mr. Tas loves it so he's turning into quite the chef and we're working as a team.  He gets all the ingredients out and helps clean up as we go, as always, he's a darling husband ...  Heart

Can't wait for the quilting mob to get here next month, there will be about 40 (or more) over two days and I'm thinking and planning via the TCook.   Mind you, they always bring mountains of food and quite a few of them have a TM, so it's going to be fun as a couple of them are threatening to bring them and we'll have a whole flock of the machines on the go ...  Woman SurprisedWoman LOL

I just made cauliflower rice to go with leftover meatballs and sauce. Nice but not sure if I really like it enough to do again. I just milled some cacao nibs and cashews, ready for Fridays dessert cooking for a birthday this weekend and considering if I should make the extra slices tonight or should I sew some thermo covers. The goulash went really well;  tonight, it's the lemon curd, came out really nicely and is now in the refrigerator.

Next month will see something of a party with all the TM/TC machines going, I'll have to take pictures of what they make and post them here.   Some of those ladies are fabulous cooks;   one in particular owns/runs a restaurant, so there will be lots to learn and enjoy in practical terms as well as sharing their masterpieces, yum! ..... Smiley Tongue

I've been collecting lots of recipes from the internet that involve a whole gamut of these machines as it is turning out their interfacings are much of a muchness without needing massive modifications .. so the file will grow to huge proportions ....  Woman Very Happy ... oh happy day!

I'm guessing you're talking about the magimix cook expert.

I was impressed by their PR dept. I sent a message suggesting a couple of shopping centres where I thought they could do well with demonstations and had a sensible & relevant reply within the hour!!

I was thinking of getting a thermomix but I would really like to see the cook expert at work, it sounds as if it could do very similar tasks.
