I love raspberries.

My last trifle was made with raspberries and fresh berries but why are they so expensive at Christmas?

Hi Sin.  Your pasta bake was lovely.  It is what I would call real comfort food.  I badly mistimed it because I forgot how long it was also in the oven and the family were drooling.

I used radiatori pasta which I think is similar to rotini.  The bacon was a wicked touch of genius.

A hit!

j*oono, that looks really good.  I'm going to have to try that one.  I love chicken and pasta.  And your asparagus looks wonderful.  It's been really expensive here lately, so I haven't bought any.  But I may just have to spring for it.

I agree Lealta, the dish looks yummy. I love asparagus too, it's one of my favorites. Every once in a while Lloyd makes a grilled sourdough tuna melt with grilled asparagus spears that is super good.

That sounds really yummy Polly.  I love tuna melts.  I would never think to put asparagus on one.  I do make mine with sourdough bread.

I had never thought of it either until Lloyd suggested it. You'd love it. He also adds other things to the tuna....i'll ask him exactly what he puts in it and post it here later.

You know another thing that's super simple and really delicious is the broccoli soup he makes. He got it from Gordon Ramsey and it's basically just broccoli (with a little salt) boiled for a few minutes (blanched), put in a blender with some of the water it was boiled in, served in to a bowl and add a little goat cheese on top. Salt and pepper as needed. It's really good on a cold day.

What I love about the soup also, is it's delicious but super healthy. You get not only get all the broccoli, but you get any vitamins that were extracted by using the water it was boiled in. Except for the little bit of goat cheese(for creaminess) and maybe a dash of olive oil, it's pretty much low fat.

That soup does sound great.

Re: quinoa salad.

You can cook it in a rice cooker. It makes it super easy. If I'm making a cold salad, I refrigerate it before I put in rest of the ingredients. The cuc's will be more crunchy.

If you use the Parsley option, get the italian parsley(larger leaf). It tastes better. Lemon is also good in it.

Re: Thread to share your tried and true RECIPES or to ask for them :)

Asparagus is apparently in season in Australia at the moment so it is quite cheap.  99cents a bunch but it's funny how small some of the bunches are.  I didn't realise though until I got home that the asparagus I bought came from Peru.

One of my favourite asparagus recipes is the asparagus tart which is basically just a quiche.  I think I have already posted the recipe somewhere.  I also love it just with a poached egg on toast.  Hmmmm, I probably like that even better.
