if it had been the father who had murdered that poor little girl the country would be baying for his blood, there would be calls for him to be dragged through the streets naked by his testicles and while I would have no problem with that, the silence and lack of outrage for this woman's dispicable act is very telling, the only thing missing is the do Gooders sprouting on about how the poor woman must be disturbed or in a really bad place to have done it, this evil **bleep** should only ever see the light of day from behind bars or she should see her last Sunrise with a noose around her neck

Another example of double standards:
If it'd been any white woman falsely accusing the murder of her child to a dark-skinned man maybe of African appearance it would have been a racist scandal of mammoth proportions.

Perhaps it's less of a scandal atm because
1.police never looked for this man
2. The death of the baby is uppermost in everyone's mind.
I am left wondering why so many are so eager to believe the very worst of the mother without knowing the whole situation?
Does it make us feel better to judge so harshly?

Az, do you think we should feel sorry for her? We live in Australia, there are always options, she could've even left her on someones door step, rung the bell and run would've be better than dumping the body in a creek...
I do agree though it's not our job to judge, but still, it's disturbing thinking what the last moments of that babies life were like... It hits too close to home for most parents...

I disagree about people not being Evil. Im not saying this mother was evil, who knows what type of stress she was under, arranged marriage, abusive relationship, however there are always people to help, sad that she felt this was her only way out and for that she has to pay. Evil - the Anita Cobby murderers. Plain evil.

I don't feel sorry for her, exactly, I feel so sad for the baby but I am not sure what I feel about her.
I do think she isn't just evil................probably a lot of DV, no real idea about how to get the help she needed maybe?
I think it's a human reaction to judge but I hate to do it.
I also believe there is going to be a whole lot more to the background of this.
There are so many other babies murdered by really evil people, Leiliana Wright aged 4, beaten/kicked, to death for drinking her brothers juice. (US)
Micahya Crocket and his sister again US but it is clearly drugs and her issues with her partner that are tantamount there. No excuses.
Both cases there were warning signs for a long time.

Isolated woman with somewhat limited English would very unlikely know where or how to look for help. Just because somebody looks "calm" on fuzzy video means nothing. She could be in daze. Who knows what happened. Why make an federal case of her describing the man as African? The police would be asking her for description, anything she can remember, what colour was his skin, and she would have said the first thing that came into her mind.
I find it difficult to believe that she thought to herself that killing the baby is going to change her life for better. She has a history of mental illness, maybe she is on medication, and just snapped. Murders are not committed by monsters from other planets they are committed by ordinary people. And anybody who thinks that they or somebody from their family would never be capable doing something like that are kidding themselves. We all are capable of killing in some circumstances.

I am not sure she ever described the man as African, did she just say dark skin? She has dark skin herself.
The media just writes whatever they want, in news here, I read dark sinned/Afican/Somalian, so who knows?
As for the CCTV footage, I saw a woman pushing a pram, I couldn't even tell it was her, let alone if there was a baby in it, dead or alive 😞

Yes, she may have already killed her at home and wanted to dispose of the body.
Autopsy said she was smothered before being put in the creek

Those of us who struggle to find some rationale to this won't because there is none. We will never know the circumstances that led to this murder of a baby. Also I read that there were signs of previous abuse on the child. (sorry don't have the link). The mother would appear dazed as she would be under strong medication I believe. Whether severe mental illness explains it, or pure evil, ( and I do believe in pure evil though not necessarily with this case) we will never know. I would like to attend the memorial group at West Heidelberg but can't but today my heart is heavy and with them all.
