Be-Tolerant
Tim Vann
'Bullying may be defined as the activity of repeated, aggressive behavior intended to hurt another person, physically or mentally. Bullying is characterized by an individual behaving in a certain way to gain power over another person.'
'I am not bullied as an adult. I do not bully as an adult. I know it happens though. People are being ignored, insulted, and mentally tortured by their adult peers. Bullying does not stop in high school, and adults can be just as cruel and mean as teenagers. But one is not supposed to be bullied as an adult; one should be able to deal with criticism. Grow some backbone. Not take it so seriously.
What I believe to be the root of bullying evil is the feeling of superiority we have. My belief is better than your belief. My country is better than your country. My political views are better than yours. If you do not believe what I believe, you are stupid and wrong. And I can tell the whole world you are stupid. Freedom of speech and so on. And teach my children that people that hold different views are stupid. “But my children are not bullies. Not my children. They are respectful and tolerant, just like me.” Right….
Bullying happens when someone is different in the eyes of the bully. Is a threat. If the bully wants to feel better about himself and attacks someone that cannot fend for him/herself.. Bullying is not restricted to the school or sports we use to go to. Is has nothing to do with age.
But I suppose that the once you have been bullied, you will always remember your first bullies. How hard and unfair it was. Arbitrarily even in most cases. Because you had glasses or funny teeth. The memory and pain will always stay with you. I hope you are being treated better now.
I hope that one day there will be no more bullying. But that is not enough for me. No more racism. No more religious battles fought with real bombs and guns. No more intolerance towards gays and lesbians.
It takes more to make better world. A lot more. From everybody. And not only after your cried about a teenage suicide. All the time. Developed yourself. Learn about a different culture. Accept differences. Because if you will not, I bet your children will neither.'

LOL, apparently even the mods aren't game to use their names on our special notes anymore LOL

Meep, there used to be a time you could get away with not mentioning names. The mods got stricker somewhere around about the time the forum changed.
Stricter now? No way. You could never put one over Shane :^O

so, you don't know who they are? but you know there is someone who knows?
I am confused.....
I dont actually know.. I have a feeling. Iza has been posting a lot about bullying according to some of the posts here. What would be the reasons for her doing that? I assume the topic is important to her because
1 She is being bullied
2 She wants to bring awareness about bullying in general

I absolutely agree with you Meep, people standing by and watching bullying without stepping in is the same as bullying
Absolutely agree with that statement.
It reminds me of something my mother drummed into me "It's one thing to see evil being done it's another to stand by and allow it to be done"
I know you've been through the wringer on these boards Trish but you've never let it stop you coming back here, you're one brave lady I think at times and a lot braver than others.
Not so much brave. I just believe in being myself. I am who I am and if people don't like it, that is their issue. For the few not so kind people on her to drive away others would be a shame. Just smile and wave.

Hello everyone,
Joz, I made a 'joke'....on your thread.
My sister who has no legs...makes jokes about being legless and shoe salesmen. It's harder for other people to hear I think than it is for her. That is her reality. She's cool with it...she just wishes everyone else would be too.
I'm OK with being a carer. It is part of my life and the life of my family.Yes, there can be difficulties...that's the way it is.
If any one else feels uncomfortable with that fact and they think by my even mentioning anything about it I am whinging or anything else or it is hard for you to hear about...please don't read.I have a disabled son and sister (currently in a nursing home) ...that's just my reality just as whatever your life is is yours.I will not hide it away and be made to feel my life is not acceptable because it is different to yours.
CM, It is interesting that you should say having a socially unacceptable trait encourages bullying (that's why we live away from other people...my eldest son) .
An interest in Law may very well be developed for personal reasons...say when someone was a CW for a VOC.
I think you are well aware of how people may react to various things....
Az pretty spot on..
I thought this could be discussed as a general topic.
I do or at least attempt to discuss other things .:-)

It's amazing how a little to and fro can turn that frown upside down!!
I am sure the OP wouldn't have so much discomfort if she wasn't egged on by her friends!.... This of course results in a spiral which requires dissection and the eminent rescue and commiseration!!
It is a pattern!...... I see it constantly.

who eggs her on VS? who are her friends?

I just came to ask the same question!
I have not seen any 'egging on', maybe I missed it. Can you please quote a post or post numbers? TIA
