A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The back bencher’s who are worried about the polls don’t have the verbal skills necessary to communicate with their electorates, they... are not working for their electorates or Australia.
Jensen went on National TV and gave a cheese cake interview to lefty Leigh Sales, later that day he was interviewed by Bolt and Price, real journo’s and when they asked him was it sour grapes because he wasn’t a Minister the interview went pear shaped they ate him alive and we haven’t heard from him since, then up bobbed Simpkins a fellow West Australian with his friend backing the motion.
Not at all true, that is political spin at its best
. I have posted in the other thread about Leadership challenge, several articles from different msm outlets.. The Canberra Times, The SMH, The Australian, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph... all media outlets that have different biases, or none.
The articles all reporting the same views .. short version Abbott's time is up, if not tomorrow he won't last much longer anyway - including direct quotes from Liberal MP's..... do you think they are all colluding?
Even though they are arch rivals?

I would say they have all acknowledged what the polls are saying (the people of Australia)

Yes, the Liberal MP's are saying this is what they are hearing from people in their electorates also.. the people want Abbott gone.
People = voters

That is irrelevant and **bleep** poor debating.
Which brain cell was engaged to come up with that piece of wisdom ?

Thank you, Donna.

Are Tony’s critical ‘friends’ in the press to blame for his predicament?
Of course, the ‘friends’ in the press of which I am thinking quite rightly don’t regard themselves as ‘friends’, but rather as defenders of good policy, small government, freedom of speech, freedom of contract and the like.
Any party that delivers good policy along these lines is fine by them. They do belong to a tribe, it’s just that the tribe is not defined as Labor or Liberal. I’m not sure this is a point that the Liberal Party quite understands.
There is no doubt that very many commentators (and Coalition supporters) peeled away when Abbott cowardly backed away from his promise to amend 18C. This was an absolute core pledge and all that tosh about Team Australia just made it worse. When it is illegal to offend someone, we are in real trouble when it comes to civil liberties in this country.
And what was all that rhetoric about the Budget (and the ongoing ludicrous claim that the Coalition has shaved some $170 billion off Labor debt – hmmm)? The Budget settings were as soft as blancmange but Hockey seemed to be happy with the description that it was tough … again, hmmm. Tell it as it is would be my advice.
And why go off with lots of moving parts new policies that haven’t been road-tested in any sense? GP co-payments could have been sold, but in the context of the ridiculous Medical Research Future Fund … again, more peeling off of commentators. Higher education reforms – too complex.
....I guess the point I am making is that there is no sense that Abbott and his team should feel betrayed by commentators in the press.
They always knew that that very many leftards in the commentariat would never be impressed, irrespective of the policies (where, with a few exceptions, were the feminists out there defending the fair-dinkum PPL; if this had been Labor policy, the bouquets would have been of Martin Place proportions).
But the other commentators have just been looking for principles-based policies and clear explanations. To be sure, there were always going to be problems with the Senate but quite a few of the Coalition’s policies have actually not made it to the Senate. Even some of those policy changes that have been submitted to the Senate and been knocked back have been no good. And then there have been some policy areas which Abbott has studiously tried to avoid – eg. industrial relations.
If, Tony, you are looking for people to blame for his current predicament , just don’t go looking at your ‘friends’ in the press.

Turnbull
He’s still not quite ‘on’ but he’s certainly not off either.
If the leadership of the party is declared vacant then anyone can run and not be disloyal to the leader, Turnbull notes, smile just in check.
