Tony Abbott's Support Page

A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

Another economists view

Alan Kohler

It’s the apology budget – we’re very sorry for last year

In a way this year’s budget is a little more than a long, grovelling apology for last year’s stuff up.

...But the substance is virtually nil as well: the list of budget measures, entirely pre-announced as it was, was very, very short.

And in particular the measures specifically designed to lift business investment and counter the collapse in mining investment and employment are unlikely to make any difference whatsoever.

The small business tax cut is virtually pointless, a $1 billion a year handout to family-owned shops and sole tradies that will achieve nothing. That’s because any investment or new employment that a small business is likely to make in response to the tax cut will be designed to get its turnover above $2 million a year, otherwise what’s the point, at which level the tax rate goes back to 30 per cent.

Likewise the accelerated depreciation: it applies to assets of less than $20,000, and that’s not even going to buy a locally made car. Maybe an espresso coffee machine for a cafe, but only a cheap one.

Re: Tony Abbott's Support Page

The Shadow Treasurer has confirmed Labor will support five Coalition policy measures when they're put to the Senate.

The changes are expected to equate to 2.4 billion dollars in budget savings and include items, such as the No Jab No Pay policy.

Chris Bowen made the announcement during his Press Club Address on Wednesday declaring the Opposition will support any measure which is fair and simple.

Mr Bowen listed the five areas as: the changes to the taxation of holders of work and holiday visas, the abolition of the large family bonus, the removal of the zone tax offset for fly-in, fly-out workers, changes to work related car expenses, and the implementation of the No Jab, No Pay policy.

But the two parties are still at odds over superannuation changes with Labor saying billions of dollars in savings can be found by cutting back on concessions for high income earners.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has slammed the proposal.

Abbott saw the peril of even contemplating Twiggy Forests ludicrous inquiry proposal.

It's about time the media started to tell the real story about Forest, he's a failed miner then he started up his very low grade mine in the midst of a mining boom,, wanted the infratructure of the existing companies rail to take his ore too, and now the prices have plummeted he wants the gov to punish the other guys.

He's a fraud and and now every mining company in Australia have ostracised him.

But we'll see the left on here, who have no historic knoweledge of this fraud, to use it to criticize the PM, they'll lap it up.

He has been a columnist for Chanticleer in The Australian Financial Review and was Editor of the AFR between 1985 and 1988. He was editor of The Age from 1992 to 1995.[1]
Kohler was chief executive and a major shareholder of Australian Independent Business Media Pty Ltd, which published the online investment newsletter Eureka Report and the free, 24-hour business news and commentary website Business Spectator since 2007. AIBM was sold for $30m in 2012 to News Corp; Kohler remained as editor-in-chief. The sale to News Corp did create some interesting media. It has been rumoured that Eureka Report now has less subscribers than it did when it was owned by AIBM.[4]
He also appeared on the ABC’s Inside Business from 2002 to 2013 and continues to appears on ABC News.[6] He was chairman of Melbourne University Press between 2008 and 2012.

The Abbott government is winning back Queensland voters, a new poll shows.

The Coalition leads Labor by 51 per cent to 49 per cent on a two party preferred basis in the Sunshine State, a Galaxy Poll conducted for The Courier-Mail reveals.

It is the first time the Coalition has polled ahead of Labor for a year.
