what a waste! An intelligent man and one of the current WA Government's ablest politicians - but a loose cannon and constant liability in his personal behaviour.

The circumstances were very different TGSE.  As I understand it, she was picked up driving and her public persona made her easily identifiable.  In his case, the vehicle was not 'linked' with his name nor was the address in Subi. The officers who attended the location would not necessarily have had any idea who the driver of the vehicle was because of those circumstances.

I suggest it only became more publicly known when the complainant neighbour (who obviously knew the ID of the driver) contacted Channel 7.  That suggests an ulterior motive imo.

I cannot speculate as to why the Department of Administrative Services did not release the information to the public but have to ask - why would they?  Is there a requirement or an obligation for them to do so?  I really do not know.

Make no mistake, I do not condone drink driving but wonder about the circumstances and motivation of all parties in this matter.

The incident was not known to the parliament for two weeks.  Why?

Why was there a police cover-up?

Reports suggested that the police were not able to gain entry on the night, nor were given the name of who was responsible for the vehicle when they requested the information.

A 40 minute press conference? Nah I'm afraid  it just didn't wash. Troy was and is a disgrace and if he's that stuffed in the head he should go.

My understanding of this after listening to radio interviews yesterday that a couple of men saw the car weaving over the road, they reported it, car was parked on property and house in darkness when police arrived so they left. They did not take it further and the Police Commissioner said this sort of thing happens often. It was also said it was only when it was reported that Troy Buswell was taking time off that these 2 men decided to question what happened to their police report. Nothing in the radio interviews that I heard about a neighbour and I also do not watch channel 7 news so don't know what was said there.

Shame his personal life has impacted so much on his political career, these politicians no matter what party they belong just do not seem to get it.

Sounds a bit suss.. cover-up, including who was told what, when.

11 March -

Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan said he had also asked police to speak to the witness who first called in the “erratic driving’’ report.

There was no chance of a drink-driving charge, given that it was now three weeks past the incident, he said.

The Police Commissioner said two officers went to Mr Buswell’s house, but had no information who the car or house belonged to.

The house was in darkness and they did not speak to the former Treasurer.

A metal fence is slightly buckled, believed to have been damaged when Mr Buswell hit it with his car.

Mr O’Callaghan said the car was registered to the Office of State Aministration, not in Mr Buswell’s name.

Police have not charged him with any offences but began taking photos of the damaged car and fence this morning - more than a fortnight after the accident.

FEBRUARY 22 WEDDING

Mr Buswell attended a wedding on Saturday, February 22.

At 1.28am the following day a member of the public called police to report that a white Holden Caprice was being driven erratically on Roberts Road, Subiaco, near Patersons Stadium.

The person who rang police also contacted several media organisations, saying Mr Buswell’s driving forced him to stop to avoid a collision.

The Caprice had earlier been seen obstructing the left lane of Roberts Road, sitting perpendicular to the kerb.

The witness said the Caprice, believed to be Mr Buswell’s Ministerial car, then veered across from the left to the right lane nearly colliding with parked cars.

It then pulled into Mr Buswell’s Roberts Road driveway, where it allegedly hit a metal fence.

Police confirmed they were called to a traffic incident in Subiaco in the early hours of February 23.

Hey SheEll... 🙂 my post was just a tongue in cheek answer to lakelands suggestion that only LNP ministers think it's ok to drink and drive. I find ANYONE from ANY walk of life who finds it acceptable to drink and drive abhorrent!

Hey, Mugssy Smiley HappyI wasn't having a go at you - I'd actually been thinking along the very same lines myself and I absolutely agree with you.

What I find so extraordinary about this case is the apparent naivete of all parties involved in assuming the details wouldn't leak out. What could have been a passing embarrassment to the Governmant- like the MacTiernan case - now has the potential to turn into a really major headache.

Is it really possible that nobody except Mr Buswell himself knew about the damaged government vehicle? and if other did know and wanted to sweep it under the carpet, why on earth did they leave the 'evidence' sitting at his house for two weeks

The radio interview I was referring to was on Geoff Hutchison's morning programme on the ABC and it was he who 'interviewed' the Channel 7 reporters with some relish (I do not watch Channel 7 news either).  I also heard Karl O'Callaghan interviewed, pehaps on John McGlue's drive programme and it was on the ABC that I also heard reference to a 'neighbour'.
