Education official says students too young to understand 'controversial subject'
Evolution will no longer be taught in Turkish secondary schools after being described as a “controversial subject” by the government.
Preesident Recep Tayyip Erdogan has personally approved the change, which will be part of a new national curriculum being published later this month.
And the real reason? Maybe it's this:
Claiming the curriculum was being “simplified”, he said the government was attempting to educate children in line with “local and national values”.
hmmmmmm.

Given the stealthy metamorphosis taking place in Turkey the writing is on the wall for that, sadly ....

Not so much stealth as a loud clashing and jarring cacophony of dissonance with the ideals of Mustafa Kemal Attaturk.
and people actually vote for this sort of benighted enslavement of their bodies and souls?
Sometimes (often? most times? seems like always) I despair at the wilfull ignorance (and maybe unconscious violence?) of people who lend such ideas their support.

The real reason would be religion as that claims gods created man and therefore evolution is directly
opposed to that.
As 98% of the population is Muslim it is more likely that they wanted it banned as it contradicts their religion.
