Every Sunday we drive out of town and buy all of our veges and eggs from the wooden boxes the farmers leave at their front gates. It is a great system you take what you want and leave the cash in the tin in the box.

we try to grow enough veg to keep us going for 12 months of the year every year , with things like celery, capsicum carrots, tomatoes.
i freeze as i use a lot for cooking.
and plus what we don't use fresh
also try to give some to neighbours too we do swaps. so it works out great.

i let that yellow oxalis stuff grow that everyone else kills with zero.
my garden is full of it and there are hundreds of bees. they really like it.
when i walk through the garden i have to look down permanently not to step on a bee that is visiting an oxalis flower.
there are so many you can hear the buzzing.

that is a shame.
we have a banana palm in our yard, last year it actualy fruited but the fruit didn't grow they do have a gorgeous flower though
They're not palms, they're herbaceous and they only grow one bunch of bananas then die.
To get good fruit you need to remove all except one or two of the suckers, feed and water well. After it flowers /fruits cut it down and let the sucker grow up to take its place. They take about 18months to grow fruit down south and don't like frost or too cold.

i went to a market today, no vegie plants to buy, but i did buy a gold colour bearded iris and a geranium plant
which the flower looks like a cluster of rose buds.
