Americans are pretty ignorant about the rest of the world in general, usually everything is American. "we" all known the yanks won ww1 and ww2 all by them selves. Sometime ago I came across a US high school question board/forum where one participant asked:
"What part if any did Great Britain play in WW2?
I also think that saying "Odds are you'd be speaking Japanese if the US hadn't interfered" is downright insulting to all Australians who died in the war , especially those who were fighting and dying before the World Saviours became involved in WW2.
I think the ignorance of the majority of Americans regarding the rest of the world is staggering. There a plenty of examples of this on U-tube

My Uncle died over the Pacific, New Zealand Air force. My other uncle died over germany British Air force.

Talk about hyperbole.........some US businessmen provided aid and comfort to the Nazis........that is a far cry from "The US sold arms to the Germans".........and providing assistance to the Russians was nothing more than, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".........
My grandfather served in the RN during WWI and in the RAN during the second world war......his son, my uncle was on board HMAS Canberra at Savo Island. No body is dissing the Digger.....simply stating the fact that without US materiel support, Australia would have been overrun by the Japanese. No domestic tank production, no aircraft other than the "Wirraway" and its fighter variant, the "Boomerang".
Lionrose.........my condolences for the loss of your uncles......it was my great fortune that all 7 of my uncles (both American and Australian) survived the war.
Tezza........I've probably forgotten more about the world than you ever learned.

Australia also produced Beaufort fighter bombers

Australian troops were the first to stop the Japanese advance in (Papue-New Guinea) WW2
"Tezza........I've probably forgotten more about the world than you ever learned"- I'll have to agree with you on that one

Sorry but has a glitch before I finished the paragraph

The British stopped using Beauforts in front-line service in 1940, except as a torpedo bomber. The Beaufighter, on the other hand was an exceptional aircraft........both used Bristol sleeve-valve engines.......but the Beaufighter didn't go into production in Australia untill 1943. As for the Boomerang, it had about as much success in the Pacific as the American Brewster Buffalo.
The Sterling tank was basically an experiment, none were ever used operatioanlly. The completed Sentinel tanks were used for evaluation purposes only and were not issued to operational armoured units. The Australian Cruiser tank programme was terminated in July 1943 believing it better for Australia to put the effort spent on the AC tanks towards building her own railway locomotives and supporting the large number of US tanks due to arrive.
or your insistence that the US save the free world in ww1 & ww2. I didn't mention WW1, and arguably, the US became the "Ar senal of Democracy" in WWII. Every Allied nation used American made weapons, burned American supplied fuel, and in many cases ate American supplied foodstuffs........all shipped on American-made Liberty ships (2700 of them) guarded by American carriers (24 Essex class, 11 light carriers).

This discussion has moved from where it was to areas I would rather not comment on because I admitingly know nothing about them.
I have however studied on some more recent things and there are problems with what people have been led to believe about certain things, like the 9/11 attacks, the Pentigon (was it a plane or a missle?) and most the people bring up these questions are American people US citizens. People are going to jail for exersizing their right to speech,
Democracy Spring Arrests Continue- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=culkcwoeNf8
and fewer are being killed by law enforcement officers just because they are suspected of exersizing another right in the US constitution. Just suspected, not actually doing so.

There could be 100 different reasons why someone didn't hear a policeman tell them to stop, in this case he was listening to music on headphones. But everything is a threat now, so gotta shoot first and kill before they kill us.

As for the Boomerang, it had about as much success in the Pacific as the American Brewster Buffalo.
The Boomerang was initially used as a fighter but found its mark as an Army support to both Australian and American in Papua-New Guinea. The American Brewster Buffalo is best forgot ten about completely.
Every Allied nation used ; American made weapons,
Since when has the Lee-Enfield rifle, the Bren gun or the Owen sub-machine gun been American. Australia did use the Thompson sub-machine for a while but found the Owen much better suited to jungle warfare. We did not need to import very much American ammunition as we had own industry. The Artillery was also British made and supplied
burned American supplied fuel,
This I doubt as we still got our oil from the British owned Companies in the Middle East
and in many cases ate American supplied food stuffs
Whose leg are you trying to pull here Australia produced enough food (even though there was rationing) to supply the local population and allied troops in the Pacific
all shipped on American-made Liberty ships (2700 of them) guarded by American carriers (24 Essex class, 11 light carriers).”
Most if not all the Liberty ships were used in the European Theatres, can’t recall them bringing much to Australia.
Perhaps it may be better to say there were a lot of countries involved in WW2 and America was one of those countries who formed a alliance with each other to defeat a common enemy

I see.....you conveniently forget the P-39, P-40, F4U, B25, SBD, B24, PBY aircraft, the 37mm anti-tank gun, the M3 and M5 Stuart tanks, the M4 Sherman.....not only supplied to Australia, but to Great Britain, Canada, France, Belgium, Russia, New Zealand, India, China, Mexico and Brazil.
Perhaps it may be better to say there were a lot of countries involved in WW2 and America was one of those countries who formed a alliance with each other to defeat a common enemy
I won't argue that point, but they did it with American weapons, oil, and food, all transported on Liberty and Victory ships.
