Re: WAtch out for slitthery snakes

Yes she is one lucky little girl. as i am sure she would have ran to it and got bitten..The snake actually came towards her  and then tuned around towards a close by picket fence .When it realised it couldnt fit through the picket it panicked and came back a second time onto the decking in lightning fast time not far from me still rescuing the pup. That creeped me out..I searched for it but we have lots of bamboo and folige out the back and it hid away..Think  the same snake has been living out thier a few months as i thought i saw a snake head a while ago near the back water tap...

Re: WAtch out for slitthery snakes

Oh my - lucky you were out there with her!  Hate to think what might have happened....

Seems that snakes are still very active - my round the corner neighbour stopped out the front when I was out there with my dogs a couple of days ago to let me know his Aussie bulldog was bitten by a brown snake in his back yard in the 20 or so minutes he took to eat his dinner, and died. He was heartbroken and begging me to watch out for my furbabies.

Luckily enough, the huge yard from the house at then end of the street (we live in a cul desac (?SP) runs right back along my back fence and is regularly mowed, where he is right on the edge of town with very overgrown paddocks behind. They used to keep horses there, but I think it was repossessed? and has been totally neglected for about 2 years.

He told me he complained to the real estate handling the sale, but they said they had now sold the property and had no responsibility for it any more! (good grief! What if it had been a child!!) I told him to approach council, and on Thursday I saw a tractor there slashing along the fence line....

I'm so glad you rescued Lucy Jenni she's such a dear little thing You've also got a cute little kitten too haven't you? Now that you know the snake is there, you're going to have to keep an eye on them

Re: WAtch out for slitthery snakes

Yes all eyes will be peeled from now..Have more pets living on the back porch with my show cats in thier enclosures and my poodles also outside..We have  both lost and saved quite a few of our animals  over the years to snakes..I Lost a 12 month old filly foal and a murray grey cow to snake bite and saved a couple of really big dogs and a blue heeler with treatment luckily because we were at home when they were bitten on seperate occasions...
