"eBay is revamping its community area including the discussion boards. The change comes as eBay transitions away from using LiveWorld to moderate its boards. As we report in Monday's news story, eBay was not ready to provide more details when we broke the story last month. Who will moderate the boards - will it be brought in-house, or will eBay outsource it to another company? We'll have to wait to find out.

But we do know eBay is revamping the boards. Certain features will remain the same, but the design will change."

One change that is puzzling is how eBay will designate an employee's post. In the past, moderators' posts were always shown with a pink box - with the new design, posts from eBay employees will be identified by a blue box surrounding the post. Users had always referred to eBay forum moderators as "pinks" - so changing the color seems an odd decision.

Users have already expressed concern over what the change in moderation will mean for the user experience, so hearing that eBay will revamp the community area will likely cause more concern. On a positive note, eBay will move all previous posts to the updated forums.

Message board moderation

The T----M- message board is moderated by the T---- M- community. If you're offended by any of the messages below, you can vote to have them removed.

Voting is restricted to authenticated members, or members with a feedback rating greater than 5. T---- M- will not enter into any correspondence regarding the message board.

my head hurts.....literally...had to have a bcc cut out of my forehead today.....I'm gonna look like scarface....:^O...unbelievable...it was gonna take 6 months to get in to see a plastic surgeon, so my GP did it for me = no fuss, no bother....but the local is wearing off and it feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat.

good moaning all, well I can see straight again...crikey, every time I blinked it felt like I was going a few rounds with Johnny Famechon..

so.....voting on posts.....etc....I'm not sure I'm a supporter of the old like/dislike button....our local news site changed to that kind of format and all of a sudden people were being bombarded with dislike votes as if it was a weapon (sound familiar?  trolls will always take advantage to stand over others by whatever method is available.......and on my local site, only 'members' could vote a post down so it got like a resident troll swamp until the editor stepped in....it seems he may have had to disengage the 'dislike' button because people just stopped posting....

the vote up button doesn't have the same negative effect. so I'm all for empowering rather than disempowering.
