WHO WOULD PREFER TO SEE ALL POLITICAL THREADS RELEGATED TO THEIR OWN THREAD IN 'CONNECT AND SHARE'?

Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.

The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.

Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.

Does anyone agree with me?

Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?

well no,  not at all.  its more the idea of censorship that bothers me. if they were on another board i'd more than likely just leave them there to rot.

because that's not a decision the mods make!

This kind of decision comes from ebay, not the mods. They have to operate the boards within the parameters and by the guidelines, requested by ebay

This post is a discussion about where political discussions should be,not discussing political leaders &their policies.There is a difference you know.Political & religious people all have this thing about semantics in any argument/discussion.Whatever,I'm on eBay so I'm going off to do some virtual shopping.

it would be a problem for me, and on the whiole I don't even like the political threads

but every now and then, one grabs my attention and In like to read and learn and contribute if i have something to say. Most times, i just scroll on by, hit the back button, or create threads that do interest me.

I also used to enjoy the games threads - not religiously, but somwetimes, sionce they have their own board, i don't think I have participated in any - out of sight, out of mind kind of thing

Board segregation is silly

If people don't like a topic, it will soon fall to the bottom, so can't see why people's lack of self control should cause any segregation, to be honest?

besides, many every day topics are either influenced by or overlap with politics, where do we draw the line?

would this mean that issues such as NAPLAN (grade 9 tests today), NDIS, NBNM etc, all had to be discussed elsewhere? The whole private vs public health or education debate? centrelink questions, pension questions/discussions, unemplyment etc - I'm pretty sure that it probably even pervades typewriter maintenance somehow - maybe at a union level? dunno LOL

I agree with much of what you've just said.

So much of the current affairs and topics of conversation have a political slant but they don't need to turn into a political hatefest rather than a discussion.  When we got the NBN I wanted to discuss it for the huge infrastructure project it was and the issues it faced during the trial and roll out but that soon becamse impossible because of the political mud slinging that began to invade every discussion about it.  

Although most would not remember my first post about it was a gripe.

I thought i had just woken up and it was 1950 something, don't talk about politics, religion or the 3 letter word. If posters don't like political threads, start others. How hard is it? There are threads I don't like, so what - I don't read or participate, easy.

I have browsed political threads, and posted now and then. Just like any other topics, if there is little interest, they fall.

To encourage a broader range of opinions to be expressed on the political threads, best they stay in full view.

They can be sidestepped if the title is of little interest.

Well I can't post on political threads, and nor do I read them. I'm from the UK and haven't the foggiest idea who you're all talking about. They might just as well be from the Planet Zog. In fact if they're anything like our bunch of free-loaders and liars, they probably are.

totally agree with the OP.

I do go into the odd political thread but in the end, they get so rude and nasty that i leave them.

They are the threads the mods seem to have to post on the most about keeping it poilte and they are the threads the mods seem to have to "lock" the most.

Get rid of them. Put them on their own board.

And dont tell me just to not look at them or start other threads.

If you want to look at them, go look at them on another board.

As for starting other thread, geez, there are at least 20 political threads on page 1 at the moment. Any new ones started just get lost amongst them
