Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

I do go into the odd political thread but in the end, they get so rude and nasty that i leave them.
They are the threads the mods seem to have to post on the most about keeping it poilte and they are the threads the mods seem to have to "lock" the most.
Get rid of them. Put them on their own board.
And dont tell me just to not look at them or start other threads.
If you want to look at them, go look at them on another board.
As for starting other thread, geez, there are at least 20 political threads on page 1 at the moment. Any new ones started just get lost amongst them
Politics covers just about everything in life, it would mean not discussing welfare, mental health, poverty, stupidity, war, asylum seekers, global warming, education, health and hudreds of other things - like our FUTURE!

It's not discussion but a load of c&p lol
Not as far as I am concerned, I tend to like to talk about things that affect me and people I care about. Sometimes I will link to articles and sometimes not, it's easy to skip over the mistruths posted by some of the regulars. They often don't know what they are talking about which is why they copy articles all the time, it is obvious.

yes and sometimes the c&p's are better reading than uninformed opinions.

Don't pin it on the other party...BOTH sides do it and often.
These threads yesterday have been good because people are actually Discussing points and not just pushing other peoples thoughts.
I'm not pinning it, I didn't mention sides, as I said I like to debate the topics. I can happily agree with either side, it isn't about sides.

Have a political board. Discuss, argue, cut and paste on the political board till your hearts content
It's not possible - just about every topic can be related to politics.

could always relegate all the other threads to their own boardmaybe more non political threads would be started then.
The fluff board, the whats on tele board, the I'm bored board.

I think it has come to a time where politics should have it's own board....
