Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

I guess the trouble with a designated board for politics is, the only discussion will be about politics (much as CS is now) and no-one else will want to go there. It will be boring as bat-**bleep**e and go into slow decline. Much as CS is now thanks to all the political threads.

Your posts were on political threads.
Things are getting harder for people due to big changes in the sort of Government this Country has.I think it is going to become more and more a part of general discussion rather than less?

So much politics makes the board boring. No point commenting because nothings really up for discussion, questions or comments are just followed up by insults, put downs or irrelevant cut and pastes. That goes for posters on both sides of the political divide.
I dont know if it needs its own board, but keeping it out of other threads would be nice and making it obvious the thread is political in nature is good too. Although thats often easy enough to see by the id of the poster.
But I'm pretty sure we've been through this before and consideration of others isnt a high priority for some of the posters here.
Punch ,you were very much for disadvantaged Australians once..
not so much now ? have your values changed ?
wow

If there were a designated political board it would probably be the one to thrive while CS declines. We are not apathetic about politics in the Bluecat household so it is second nature for us to talk about it, much like how other households might do with say, football. This thread, in its essence is political in itself.

If the anti-political ones would put as much effort into starting and maintaining non-political threads that they do with complaining about the political threads, then, this would not even be an issue.

I don't go in the political threads, I believe in Ignorance is Bliss.
But there seems to be plenty of them so there must be lots of interested posters, even if they hate them, they are still in there watching or posting. Just the debate over whether there should or shouldn't be goes on for days, so people must be interested, or entertained, or just plain bored enough to post. I think a seperate board could possibly be the last nail in the coffin of CS
